Teacher for STU Haderslev

We are seeking a teacher with experience in the field of special education. The position is on 37 hours.

About the job

STU is a 3-year specially arranged youth education for young people with special needs who cannot complete a standard youth education. We have youths between 15–25 years old with many different challenges and diagnoses. We are therefore a specialized team of staff with many different competencies, which together are put into play in relation to the youths’ learning and development.

We work closely with other agencies such as e.g. UEV, JobHaderslev, local psychiatry, companies, etc. We focus on ensuring that the young people are as clarified as possible for further education or employment when they finish their STU. This means that a large part of the youths’ STU is internships, either internally or externally in various companies.

We work from the students’ individual goals and plan the instruction based on each individual's strengths and needs for support. Both the teaching of the young people and our cross-collaboration are carried by constructive and good relationships, which make the students feel safe and the collaboration strong.

The position will primarily be in teaching, where you independently or in collaboration with a colleague will conduct the teaching and related tasks. In addition, you will be a form teacher, where you have the primary responsibility for a group of students, ensure the cooperation with the internship supervisor, relatives and partners, and ensure the individual youth’s progression through STU. The position also includes being a support in teaching in relation to subject-specific distance learning at the AVU level.

Teaching mainly takes place during daytime hours, but some evening arrangements should be expected during the year.

• a qualified teacher
• passion for and preferably experience with working with young people with special needs. E.g. from lower secondary or other youth offerings
• passion for helping vulnerable youths achieve as independent an adult life as possible
• preferably experience or education within the autism field
• preferably experience with young people with anxiety
• preferably experience with special education
• you are a team player who can also work independently
• good at relationship-building, even when it gets difficult, and you yourself must be proactive in maintaining a good relation to the student
• focus on high professionalism with a good sense of humor. We are bold innovators who avoid finding comfort in the “usual”
• stable employee who is good at sparring and reflections with colleagues.

If you also have competencies within e.g. swimming, music, IT, gaming, health or other special topics, we will view that favorably. We have elective subjects on Fridays where your competencies can come into play.

Salary and employment terms

The position is paid in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between KL and the Danish Teachers’ Association. The expected starting salary lies in the range of 37,632 DKK – 44,464 DKK plus pension. The final placement in the range is based on objective criteria such as relevant education and documented work experience.

Commencement of employment: January 1, 2027.
