About the job

Do you want to use your legal expertise close to the top management of the police district? Are you keen to help ensure that police operations and plans rest on a solid legal basis? And are you interested in information security and data protection in an organization where there is a lot at stake? Then you might be our new colleague.

About us

The Management Secretariat is the cross-functional staff function of the police district. We provide legal, administrative, and organizational support to the top management and to the organization as a whole. The secretariat consists of three sections with about 24 employees. We have a dynamic environment with skilled and dedicated colleagues, an informal tone, and a good social cohesion.

You will work in the section Heavy Vehicles, Animal Welfare and Legality, where you will be part of a professional community with other lawyers and in close cooperation with police professionals and managers.

About the position

The position brings together four professional tracks

  • Legal management support. You advise the top management and the organization on legal issues within, among others, the Police Act, the Administrative Act, and many other laws outside criminal procedure. You prepare notes, recommendations, and responses, and you contribute to matters with public and political attention.
  • The nationwide heavy-vehicle area. You participate in close collaboration with the district's nationwide operational responsibility for the heavy-vehicle area, including contributing to consultations about it, drafting of rules, organization of meetings with stakeholders and similar.
  • Legality assurance. You review and quality assure operational plans, operations, and new initiatives so that they are in accordance with applicable law. You are a sparring partner for planners and managers, and you help translate law into practice.
  • Information security and data protection. You contribute to the district's work on data protection under both the Data Protection Regulation and the Act on Law Enforcement. This includes handling security incidents, assessments of processing grounds, risk assessments, and collaboration with the National Police's data protection function.

In addition, there may be concrete case handling in the form of processing requests for access to documents and citizen inquiries.

You will have independent responsibility for your cases, and you will also receive good professional sparring from experienced colleagues and your immediate supervisor.

About you

You have a Master of Law (cand.jur.) and several years of experience from a public authority or equivalent. Perhaps you have already worked with administrative law, data protection, or advising management. Now you are seeking a position where you can develop your professional skills and take on a broader area of responsibility.

We imagine that you

  • Have solid administrative-law understanding and a desire to work with data protection and information security
  • Can translate legal assessments into clear and usable recommendations
  • Write precisely and in an easily understandable way and can communicate legal issues to non-lawyers
  • Work in a structured way and can manage several cases simultaneously
  • Have political savvy and understand how to work closely with leadership
  • Have high professional and personal integrity
  • Are proactive and actively contribute to the community and the work environment

Experience from the police, the prosecuting authority, or a similar public authority is a clear advantage, but not a requirement.

We offer

As an employee of the Central and Western Zealand Police, you become part of an important societal institution with great public attention. We offer a position with varied, challenging, and independent work tasks, as well as good opportunities for development and to influence the content and solving of tasks. You will become part of a department with a good working environment, where multiple professionals complement each other, and where humor and collaboration are keywords.

Salary and employment terms

You will be employed on collective agreement terms in accordance with the agreements between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Association of Academics. You will as a starting point be employed as an attorney (fuldmægtig). If you are a civil servant, you keep your civil service status.
