Senior consultant and specialist sought for the obstetric department at North Jutland Regional Hospital, Hjørring.

Gynaecological/Obstetric department, Regionshospital Nordjylland, Hjørring seeks, in connection with a major generational shift, both a chief consultant and a specialist for the obstetric area with appointment from 1 March 2027 or by agreement.

Gynaecological/Obstetric Department in Hjørring

The Department of Gynecologic Diseases, Pregnancy and Birth is administratively one unit, but is clinically divided into two specialties with their own chief consultants: Gynecology and Obstetrics, which again are divided into smaller teams. The department covers the entire northern part of Vendsyssel as its catchment area and operates at a main function level. There is a day surgery unit, as well as operations daily on the central operating corridor, just as the department performs robot-assisted surgery.

There is a ward with 8 inpatient beds as well as a gynecological day unit, in addition a unit for pregnant women and those in labor with 4 new labor rooms, a maternity outpatients clinic and 5 midwife consultations.

The total activity in 2025 is approximately 25,000 outpatient visits, 2,500 operations, 3,400 hospitalizations and about 1,400 births.

The department is clinically staffed with

• 8 senior physicians, of whom 2 are chief consultants and 1 UAO, as well as a research-responsible senior physician; 2 department physicians, 2 H-physicians; 3 junior physicians and 3-6 resident physicians.
• There is around-the-clock on-call cover at both the front and back on-call levels present every day of the week. For new specialists there will be attached back-up on-call duties.
