Head of Daycare

About the position

After several years in which Dagplejen has been organized as a decentralized unit, Tønder Municipality has made a political decision to centralize the day care area. We are therefore seeking a day care leader who can spearhead this organizational change and help create a common direction, strong professional communities and uniformly high quality across the municipality.

As day care leader you will play a central role in uniting the organization and further developing Dagplejen as an attractive offering for the municipality’s families with children. You must ensure a balance between continuity and development, so existing strengths are preserved while new opportunities and potentials are realized.

As leader of Dagplejen you will have the overall responsibility for the professional, personnel and administrative leadership of the day care area. You will become the leader of 31 municipal day care workers and 3 day care pedagogues, who every day create safe and developing environments for the municipality’s youngest children.

We supervise each day care provider, the playrooms and the private care arrangements in the municipality. We work purposefully to develop and maintain a Dagplejen of high quality with a basis in professional development, early intervention, cross-disciplinary collaboration and a sustainable working environment.

You must set the direction for the continued development of Dagplejen and ensure strong collaboration between Dagplejen, parents, the day care area, the administration and cross-disciplinary partners. The position provides an opportunity to influence the development of an important offering for families with children across the municipality.

We are looking for a leader who

• has experience with leadership and preferably knowledge of the day care sector
• can create clear direction and following through through involvement and dialogue
• has an eye for both pedagogical quality and daily operations
• is visible, approachable and available to employees and partners
• can support professional development, well-being and a good working environment
• has good communication skills and can be an ambassador for Dagplejen
• can work strategically while understanding the pedagogical practice.

Terms of employment

Salary and terms of employment are set in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.

Starting salary

Employment takes place according to the collective agreement for pedagogically educated personnel in leadership positions in municipalities, section 3 - 6. The expected starting salary for full-time and excluding pension is in the range DKK 42,854 - 46,655 depending on seniority. It should be noted that final placement, including the collective agreement basis and salary level, is determined based on your education and qualifications and the specific offered position.
