About the job

Are you an experienced nurse who is passionate about acute and complex nursing? Do you thrive with independent clinical assessments, high professional standards, and the opportunity to make a difference for citizens in their own homes at night?

Are you eager to become part of a new 24/7 function where you can both use your existing competencies and contribute to developing tomorrow's emergency nursing?

We are a function in development

In the On-Call Acute Function we travel to citizens in Copenhagen and in the Frederiksberg municipality with one clear purpose: to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions and deliver acute nursing where the citizen is.

We handle acute and complex nursing tasks for citizens in their own homes and work closely with among others general practitioners, 1813, hospitals, home nursing and nursing homes. Now we are facing an exciting development.

As of January 1, 2027 the On-Call Acute Function will transition to regional operations under Region Østdanmark with organizational affiliation to the Acute Admissions at Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital (BFH).

At the same time we expand to a 24/7 function and strengthen collaboration with doctors and our other healthcare partners. This provides new opportunities for professional development, closer collaboration with the acute admissions, and an even stronger cross-sector collaboration around the citizen. You will thus become part of an organization in development, where together we will create a strong, shared acute service close to the citizen.

About the position

We are seeking experienced nurses for our new 24/7 function. We know that a good work schedule looks different from person to person. Therefore we are happy to have a dialogue about how your working life best can fit together.

As a starting point, we envision a shift distribution with about 7 night shifts per 4 weeks, a fixed night shift weekend every 4 weeks and either day and/or evening shifts planned in dialogue with you. The night shifts we imagine will be planned in a rotating schedule. If you have other wishes or ideas for a shift plan, we are open to discussing possibilities.

  • you participate in a 4-week shift plan
  • the night shifts take place as out-of-house acute nursing with the citizens. You will not drive alone, but will be part of a collaboration with a safety/care porter
  • you will be employed in rotating shifts

Your tasks

As a nurse in the On-Call Acute Function you will have a versatile daily life where you must be able to work independently, maintain an overview and make professional decisions in complex and acute situations.

You will among other things

  • conduct autonomous clinical assessments of citizens with acute illness or deterioration of known disease, including assessing the complex citizen's need for acute treatment, further investigation or admission
  • work systematically with ABCDE assessment and clinical decision making as well as initiate, perform and follow up on relevant nursing interventions and treatments in the citizen's own home
  • work closely with doctors on assessment, investigation and treatment
  • advise and spar with colleagues and collaborators – both by phone and in person

Who are you?

We are looking for you who already have solid clinical experience and want to use your competencies in a different and exciting function. You thrive with responsibility and independence. You work in a structured and systematic way, even when the citizen's condition changes rapidly.

We imagine that you

  • are a trained nurse and have several years of relevant clinical experience
  • have experience from for example the emergency department, intensive care, anaesthesiology, home nursing or another area with complex and acute pathways
  • can work independently and make professional decisions on a solid clinical basis
  • have good communication and collaboration skills
  • experience with the Health Platform (SP) is an advantage

It is important to us that you can work independently and see the value of being part of a strong collegial community.

Thorough introduction and a strong professional community

When you start with us, you will receive a thorough introduction to the function, our work routines and the professional tasks. You will be assigned a mentor and go through a structured training program of about seven weeks. You will be accompanied by experienced colleagues until you are ready to independently carry out the tasks. You will become part of a team with experienced nurses, where we help each other, share our knowledge and work together to create the best possible effort for the citizen.

Help shape the future of acute nursing

We are facing an exciting process, where we together will develop new functions, work routines and forms of collaboration. Your experiences, ideas and professional perspectives are important to us. We want employees who are eager to actively contribute to development and to be part of creating a function that both citizens and partners perceive as safe, competent and coherent.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment terms according to the applicable collective agreement and within the framework of local pay formation.

Employment as soon as possible.
