Maternity-leave substitute: mathematics teacher with a science profile for the lower secondary at Frederiksbjerg School

About the job

On Frederiksbjerg School we are seeking, as of January 1, 2027, preferably mid-December 2026, a mathematics teacher with a natural science profile for a parental leave replacement. The position includes mathematics in 8th grade as well as a number of classes in physics/chemistry, biology and geography in the lower secondary grades. There are a number of support hours in the subject range associated with the position; these are coordinated together with the mathematics advisor in the lower secondary.

Skilled colleagues in the lower secondary are also ready to help you and provide professional and pedagogical sparring.

You will be required to take on a partial form teacher role in 8th grade.

Your profile

You are a trained teacher with mathematics and physics/chemistry as major subjects. We would also like you to have teaching competencies in biology and geography.

You are a clear classroom leader, and you work in a structured way and at a high academic level. We integrate movement and project-oriented teaching at the school, so you should have an interest in these elements. You must present yourself pedagogically and didactically with confidence and have a desire to be a significant adult in the children’s lives.

You are motivated by and contribute to a strong social and academically collegial environment with openness, mutual commitment and many good laughs in everyday life.

Frederiksbjerg School is located in a central and attractive part of Aarhus city centre. Here 820 children and about 100 leaders and staff have an active daily life.

The school is the natural first choice for the majority of local-area children, just as there is strong demand for the school from children from outside the area. It is not without reason. Frederiksbjerg School was inaugurated in 2016 and is equipped with subject rooms, lounge areas, presentation steps and climbing walls supporting the school’s pedagogy and didactics. The school has three departments each with its own pedagogical leader. The primary school, where we work according to the KRAI principles (Competence-based Rolling Integrated Primary), the middle grades, where we work with subject clusters, and the upper secondary, where we have line classes that students choose based on interest. The school's active outdoor areas and large terraces are integrated into play and teaching. They also invite close interaction with local residents who use the school’s facilities. The school makes use of the city’s and the local area’s offerings – sports facilities, swimming pool, etc. The school is close to woods and the beach, so in many ways Frederiksbjerg School is a rural school in the city centre.

Salary and terms of employment

Salary and terms of employment will be in accordance with the applicable collective agreement. Final salary setting takes place after negotiations with the negotiating union on the basis of qualifications, unless the position is covered by a pre-agreement which can form the basis for salary setting

Weekly hours: 37
