Project nurse(s) sought for research projects on the liver disease primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) – with the possibility of a combined position

One or two project nurses are sought to manage a clinical study 1 day a week for 3 years and/or a registry-based research study collecting chart data 1 day a week for 1 year.

Will you help develop the future treatment for patients with the liver disease primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), for which there is currently no medical treatment? In the Liver Clinic in the Department of Transplantation and Diseases of the Digestive System we are seeking one or two engaged project nurses who will lead the coordination and execution of a 3-year clinical research project testing new medicine and a 1-year registry-based research study.

You will have great influence and responsibility for planning and coordinating the tasks, which include planning and coordinating the clinical study. Patient recruitment takes place in cooperation with the department's specialists, with Henriette Ytting Lambert as the primary investigator, and we want to ensure a safe and coherent process for the patients participating in the project. At the same time you will be involved in data handling, finances and contracts, as well as coordination with industry partners.

You will become part of a small multidisciplinary team consisting of project nurses, bioanalysts and doctors, with good opportunities for professional sparring and collaboration.

concretely, project days consist of receiving project patients for first and follow-up visits, including blood sampling and handling, ECG and other monitoring examinations, medication delivery and conversations with the patient about how things are going. In addition, entry of chart data and results, as well as reporting any SAEs during the course of the studies. Some of the project visits are in the form of telephone calls. Experience with medicinal product testing projects is required.

Because PSC is a rare disease, approximately five patients are expected to be included in the clinical research project with follow-up over three years. The patient group includes, among others, younger patients who are in education or working full-time.

Clinical research project – 1 day per week for 3 years

The position includes coordination and conduct of a clinical drug trial and requires prior experience with clinical drug trials.

Registry-based research project – 1 day per week for 1 year

The position includes collection and registration of chart data as part of an international research collaboration on PSC. Prior research experience is not a requirement, and the position provides an opportunity to gain insight into research work and build experience with research-related tasks.

If employed solely for project work, the position is on-call free, and the working hours correspond to the funded project days.

Possibility of a combined position

The two projects can be handled by one or two nurses depending on qualifications and wishes.

Both project positions can also be combined with clinical work in one of the department’s inpatient wards, with the possibility of a full-time position of 37 hours per week.

In a combined position weekend shifts are included as part of the clinical work in accordance with the department’s principle that we share on-call work. They may involve rotating shifts on other weekdays and working every 3rd weekend.

About the department

The Department of Transplantation and Diseases of the Digestive System at Rigshospitalet is a highly specialized department that receives patients from throughout Denmark as well as the Faroe Islands and Greenland. The department houses both medical and surgical functions with joint leadership. We have national capacity in, among other things, liver failure, bowel failure, evaluation and listing for liver and bowel transplantation, as well as evaluation and treatment of rare and complex hepatological and gastroenterological diseases.

The department has 54 inpatient beds spread over two wards, of which 15 are medical beds. We have a strong mono- and interdisciplinary collaboration with daily conferences, where the professional groups work closely together to ensure high quality in treatment and care. We prioritize a good collegial community, a positive working environment, and a healthy and meaningful work atmosphere.

Salary and terms of employment

The employment level and hours depend on the specific job combination. If employed solely for the research projects, the work is daytime and without on-call obligations. In a combined position with clinical work, on-call duties are included by agreement. Salary and terms follow the applicable collective agreement within the Health Cartel area between the Health Cartel parties, including the Danish Nurses Organization, and the Regions’ Salary and Tariff Board.
