About the job

Do you want to help create safety, development and quality of life for people with special support needs?

Boformen Søparken is seeking four engaged staff for our social-pedagogical residential care home. We are looking for you who want to make a difference in the daily life of our residents, and who are motivated by working relationally, professionally and purposefully with each individual resident's well-being and development.

Do you feel like becoming part of a fixed, cross-disciplinary team, where we together work to create a safe, predictable and meaningful everyday life for our residents? Then it might be you we are looking for.

Who are we?

Boformen Søparken is a residential care facility under the Danish Social Services Act with support under the Social Services Act § 85. Søparken consists of three departments with a total of 16 apartments, as well as a social and activity offer under the Social Services Act § 104 with capacity for a further 16 residents.

We currently have 14 adult residents aged 19–78 with physical, mental and/or social functional impairments. We always base our approach on the individual resident's wishes, needs, resources and right to co-determination and self-determination.

With us, it is important that the individual resident feels seen, heard and met with respect, and that our pedagogical approach takes its starting point in the person’s life situation and prerequisites.

Our professional basis

Neuropedagogy and Low Arousal are the cornerstones of our pedagogical approach.

We work from an understanding that residents' behavior must be viewed in relation to their individual prerequisites, needs and surroundings. Therefore we adapt our communication, demands and support to create the best possible conditions for safety, well-being, development and quality of life.

We place emphasis on professional reflection, curiosity and an appreciative approach, where we together investigate what works for the individual resident.

Our core task

Our core task is to support the resident in being an actor in their own life and to create the greatest possible meaning, well-being and quality of life – every day.

We do this through strong relationships, an individually tailored pedagogical approach and close collaboration between staff, management, relatives and relevant partners.

We prioritize high professionalism, continuity, professional documentation, correct medication management and effective cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Your role and your tasks

As a staff member at Søparken you become an important part of the overall effort around our residents who need stability, structure, predictability and close pedagogical support.

You will become part of a fixed, cross-disciplinary team where you together take responsibility for creating coherence, quality and continuity in the daily support. You must be able to work independently while actively contributing to the team’s shared professional development.

The work includes day and evening shifts as well as weekend shifts.

The pedagogical focus includes among other things

  • Building trustful relationships and creating safety.
  • Supporting structure, predictability and clear boundaries in daily life.
  • Using neuropedagogy and Low Arousal in daily practice.
  • Preventing and managing conflicts through a calm and de-escalating approach.
  • Supporting residents' self-determination, participation and the possibility to live a meaningful life.
  • Observing, documenting and evaluating the pedagogical effort in a systematic way.
  • Cooperating closely with colleagues, management, relatives and authorities.

Professional documentation is an integrated part of the work. It should contribute to continuity, professional reflection and ongoing development of the support for each resident.

We are looking for staff who

  • Have a relevant social and health professional education, such as a pedagogue, social pedagogue or pedagogical assistant. Other relevant educational backgrounds may also be considered.
  • Preferably have experience with social-pedagogic work with young people and adults with complex support needs.
  • Work calmly, professionally and in a relationship-building way – also in situations that require particular patience and professional reflection.
  • Can work structured and create clarity, recognizability and predictability for the residents.
  • Have an interest in or experience with neuropedagogy and Low Arousal.
  • Can observe, reflect on and document the pedagogical work professionally and systematically.
  • Thrive in close team collaboration and take shared responsibility for the professional quality and task solving.
  • Are flexible and prepared to work day and evening shifts and every other weekend.

Most important is that you meet the residents with respect, calm and professional curiosity and are keen to contribute to daily life where the individual resident experiences safety, dignity and influence over their own life.

We offer

  • An exciting and meaningful position where you can make a concrete difference for the residents.
  • A fixed, cross-disciplinary team with focus on collaboration, professionalism and shared responsibility.
  • Thorough introduction and training so you are well prepared for the task.
  • Ongoing professional sparring and the opportunity for supervision.
  • Opportunity to develop your competences within neuropedagogy, Low Arousal and specialized social-pedagogical practice.
  • An workplace where we work purposefully to create quality and coherence in the support around each resident.
