About the job

We are seeking a music school teacher with a diverse rhythmic and music pedagogical background – together with teachers and pedagogues in the primary school – to teach ensemble playing at all levels and grades. We are looking for you who have pedagogical insight into and understanding of the reality of primary schools, and who can facilitate and engage in close, equal collaborations with primary school teachers.

In addition, the position consists of teaching band starter at the Music School and actively taking part in Bamuk's many concert activities in the Music School House and at Ballerup's primary schools. The position is at least 16 hours/week starting 1 January 2027 and is expected to be distributed over 3 fixed weekdays.

Music elective and 2-teacher arrangement at SMUK school

Måløvhøj School and Bamuk have a close collaboration around SMUK – Creative, Musical, Creative School. At SMUK, the musical/creative expression is in play throughout the school day, and as a music school we are involved in activities both during and outside school hours. At SMUK you will teach music in a 2-teacher arrangement in the middle school together with a music teacher from the primary school, and you will, together with a colleague, teach and conduct exams in Music as an Elective for 7th and 8th grades.

Together with your colleagues who teach in companion, music satellite and solo instrument, you will take part in concerts and other shared activities at SMUK school’s two departments.

Spireband and Bandstarter

At the Music School and possibly at other municipal primary schools you will teach beginner students in Spireband and Bandstarter in the afternoons.

Possibility for further education

At Bamuk we are committed to learning from the reality around us and creating music school offerings that are relevant for all children – regardless of background and prerequisites. Our teachers participate continuously in courses, education and pedagogical studies – and as a new music school teacher you will be offered professional development in areas such as classroom management, special education and elective subject teaching. You therefore do not need to be a specialist in advance – as long as you are curious to bring your professionalism into play in even more fields.

We take time for collegial community and communication

In addition to all the tasks related to teaching, concerts, team collaboration and cross-cutting collaboration, we expect you to understand the value of and prioritise time to communicate with colleagues, administration and management and generally stay updated on the school's many activities. The position naturally includes working time and tools for this. As an employee at Bamuk you become part of a strong professional community and you will have access to Bamuk’s central music and culture school house, Gl. Rådhusvej 13, 2720 Ballerup, as well as to the primary schools.

Your qualifications consist, among others, of

  • Relevant music pedagogy education from conservatoire, university or university college.
  • Experience with teaching and motivating children and young people to engage in music
  • A broad instrumental background; - you can teach several instruments.
  • Pedagogical/didactic insight – especially with regard to teaching in groups/classrooms.
  • Initiative and courage to engage in new concert and teaching formats in collaboration with colleagues both inside and outside the music school.

If you have other musical skills, pedagogical experiences or experience with coordinating roles, project management or similar, we would like to hear about it.
