About the job

The day has come! Our long-standing skilled leader has chosen to retire. We are seeking her successor with a start date of February 1, 2027.

Holstebro Crisis Center is a self-governing institution for crisis- and violence-affected women and their children. The crisis center has an operating agreement with Holstebro City Council and is affiliated with the Social Department.

The core task of Holstebro Crisis Center is to offer the possibility of emergency accommodation for women and their children who have been subjected to violence or crisis in the family. In addition, Holstebro Crisis Center also contains a range of preventive initiatives, including former projects that today are part of fixed counseling offerings – e.g. “Ung Uden Vold” (Young Without Violence) and “Say It To Someone” etc.

We are looking for a leader who can recognize the importance of both the external overarching strategic work and, at the same time, wants to be close to staff leadership and the daily social work with women and children.

The crisis center is a dynamic NGO with an engaged board and a broad range of dedicated, skilled employees with high professionalism and voluntary hearts and minds. It is the crisis center’s mission to work for the best possible framework for the efforts for crisis-affected women and children.

The crisis center has prepared a strategic plan in the spring of 2026 focusing on both safe operation of the house’s core task and focus on development, the monetization of national initiatives, new knowledge, legislation, etc., as well as cross-cutting collaborations with other actors – e.g. through projects.

We aim to be a strong and up-to-date crisis center. We seek a leader who can carry forward already adopted strategies and development tracks and thereby ensure a known and predictable plan for the organization as a whole, while also focusing on new directions and development opportunities.

As the leader of Holstebro Crisis Center, you will lead a development process where we establish ourselves with a strong profile as a “Violence-competence Center” and a “turn-around” offering with preventive and preparatory initiatives such as immediate counseling, projects and ambulatory efforts.

Therefore we are seeking a leader who

  • Can translate a strong development track, read the crystal ball and be proactive on new initiatives.
  • Can set goals and direction and have them communicated in a way that is understandable.
  • Is bold and dare to challenge, while at the same time able to read the different arenas and knows both diplomacy and bureaucracy and the “circulation of common sense.”
  • Is curious about new trends, currents and solutions, while there is a prioritization and anchoring based on what is of greatest benefit to the users.
  • Can function as both a people manager and be part of the Holstebro Municipality organization and practice it in a nearby, informal and trust-based manner.
  • Has the will for a holistic focus and manages to create coherence through involvement.
  • Can see the importance of being part of communities to succeed with the mission – and is able to establish strong internal and external relations.
  • Can navigate the diversity that exists in having different reference frames, depending on whether the agenda belongs to a foundation-supported project with a steering group, a board, a political committee, or in partnerships with the Danner Foundation.

In your leadership style you are characterized by

  • You have experience leading in a values-based organization, NGO, association, public administration or similar.
  • You can operate safely in political and administrative environments.
  • You have experience with fundraising/fund applications and project development.
  • You understand the importance of voluntary efforts.
  • You are strong in change management and communicate clearly and credibly.
  • You can bring people together around a common cause.
  • You are mentally and physically strong. You are robust and can “stand alone while also being able to generate followers in a ‘WE culture.’” Robustness we also understand as the ability to rest in yourself enough to dare to be vulnerable and reach out for help.

The recruitment process

Application deadline: November 23, 2026.

Interviews: We will hold the first round of interviews on December 3, 2026, and the second round on December 16, 2026.

Between the two rounds, personality profiles will be prepared.
