Night watchman sought for care home

Do you have calm in your stomach, warmth in your heart, and a desire to be the safe base when the rest of the house is asleep?

Then you are the one we are looking for.

From January 2027, the nights at Center Bøgely will be different. We are introducing awake night shifts, and therefore we are looking for you, who want to be the safe and calm base when the rest of the house is asleep.

It is at night that you make a difference

Some nights are quiet. You do your rounds, take care of practical tasks in the house and ensure that the house is safe. Other nights may bring more unrest and activity.

There may be unrest and noise in the corridors, loud music or guests who do not belong on the premises. A resident may be affected, frustrated or in need of a talk. And occasionally situations can arise where you must maintain an overview, assess the situation and act calmly and independently.

As a night nurse it is therefore important that you can stay calm in what unfolds. You do not need to have all the answers, but you must be able to keep an overview, set a clear boundary and know when you should act yourself and when help should be called. It is not important here that you are the one who fills the most space. The most important thing is that you can be the one who stands firm, creates calm and meets people with respect — even when a situation becomes demanding.

Tasks

As a night nurse you work alone and therefore you have a high degree of independence. You will, among other things:

• be visible and accessible to the residents
• create calm and safety through the night
• support residents who need help or a talk
• handle unrest and conflicts
• call for help when the situation requires it
• document and pass relevant observations on to the day shift

You do not have to solve the whole world’s problems between 22:45 and 07:45. Sometimes the most important effort is actually just to be there, keep calm and make sure the morning shift knows what happened.

Who are you?

Perhaps you are educated within the social or pedagogical field. Perhaps you have experience from psychiatry, addiction, homelessness or other areas with people in vulnerable positions.

But most importantly

You are empathetic without losing yourself. You can set a boundary without becoming hard. You are robust and able to stay when a situation is sometimes unpredictable or demanding. And you can meet a person who is frustrated, affected or in crisis without taking it personally.

You thrive working alone and you can rely on your own judgment. You also know when a situation requires you to call for help.

Who are we?

Center Bøgely is a cozy care home with 30 places for adults who are in difficult life situations. Here we meet people with homelessness, addiction, psychological difficulties and social challenges.
