About the job

We are seeking one permanent position and one maternity-leave replacement for the Hårslev department in our lower primary/middle grades.

At Nordfynsskolen we believe in the potential of all children

Are you passionate about developing both the children and the school – and really eager to become a part of our dynamic organization? Then read more here.

The two vacant positions are attached to our department in Hårslev, where the target group is children with multiple disabilities as well as children with autism spectrum disorders and/or anxiety. Several students have histories of school absenteeism, and many have had difficult experiences to carry with them.

We are looking for teachers who have knowledge of- and interest in- the profiles above, and who are passionate about thinking learning in alternative ways with a high degree of activity and differentiation.

Children need the right perspective, a present adult relationship and an inclusive learning community to unfold their resources. We are focused on creating participation pathways for all our children.

Nordfynsskolen is a special school consisting of four special provisions spread across the municipality. At Nordfynsskolen we emphasize that learning, personal development and social skills go hand in hand, and we therefore work cross-professionally in teams where all disciplines are given equal weight.

At Nordfynsskolen we believe that through a holistic approach we can cultivate and develop children’s potentials. The pedagogical and didactic foundation rests on four politically adopted pillars: mentalization, low arousal, positive psychology and neuroaffective developmental psychology. We also work from a skill-based approach, where the adults bear the responsibility that the demands placed on our students match their prerequisites for success.

Our pedagogical thinking and learning environment are carried by values such as decency, credibility, visibility, openness and curiosity. We believe that all children do the best they can – academically and socially.

Everyday life in all departments is structured with a high degree of visual structure, predictability, variation in teaching, and individually tailored timetables. We work purposefully to achieve a sense of success and mastery for all children, and we work with well-being as a prerequisite for learning.

We place great emphasis on good parental collaboration, as we see all parents as an important resource in the children’s lives and development.

We are looking for a colleague

We are looking for a colleague who would like to work with wonderful children who need supportive adults to develop and thrive. You will be part of a class team, and with us you must be flexible and able to contribute to teaching with an understanding of both the school’s curriculum and broader learning activities.

We expect that you

  • are a trained teacher and have experience within the special education area or with the target group within the general framework
  • are helpful, positive, clear and acknowledging in interactions with students, parents, colleagues and other professionals
  • can support the learning environment, have the competence to develop the students’ skills, and think about children’s learning and development in many ways
  • work in a structured and systematic way and can set clear boundaries and create predictability for the student group
  • can plan, implement and evaluate differentiated pedagogical activities within the child’s zone of proximal development
  • can work from systemic principles – see connections and take different perspectives as well as understand your own influence on the children
  • can reflect on your own practice and, on this basis, develop new pedagogical initiatives
  • can remain calm and keep overview in pressured situations, as we have students who can respond verbally and physically to unpredictability, high demands, adults’ uncertainty and lack of alignment
  • possess empathy and be able to establish good relations with both children and parents
  • be reflective and able to give and receive constructive feedback
  • be good at communicating both orally and in writing

We offer

  • a wonderful group of students who would like to be seen, supported and experience appropriate demands/expectations that help them develop
  • colleagues who help each other and lift the task together to bring the students into well-being, learning and development, including through an engaging parent- and cross-professional collaboration
  • an exciting, development-oriented and dynamic workplace with a skilled and engaged staff community
  • a workplace that values good well-being among staff, parents and students
  • a workplace where good humor and laughter are part of everyday life
