About the job

In our department we have a strong focus on the occupational environment and therefore chose to prioritise nursing even higher and hire more nurses than we have previously.

So do you want to work in a department with a strong focus on staff wellbeing and do you have ambitions to work with emergency nursing at one of Region Midtjylland's emergency hospitals? Then it is you we are looking for.

Who are we

The Emergency Department is an independent department at Regionshospitalet Horsens. The Emergency Department accepts acute medical, surgical, psychiatric and orthopedic surgical patients for admission - from patients with pneumonia to those involved in traffic accidents, which gives a very varied daily life. We work from a patient-centered approach, where the patient’s individual needs are in focus.

The admitted patients are triaged and received in the department, and more than 60 % of patients are discharged directly from the ward after up to 2 days of admission. The rest are transferred for further treatment in the main departments.

The department also takes care of the emergency room function and assists the on-call doctor.

We have specialized roles in the department such as hospital visitation, urgent coordination and flow coordination. In addition, we have employed social nurses in the department.

Competence development

We place great emphasis on competence development in our department – both monofocal and multidisciplinary.

There is also the possibility of more functions in the department in the future, as we have both an emergency room and a function at the on-call doctor. Furthermore, there is the possibility to be trained as an acute coordinator or hospital visitor, just as you can gain competencies to apply for a position as a flow coordinator, which is an inter-organizational role anchored in the emergency department.

Every week we have multidisciplinary simulation training in our own department, where all staff in the department rotate to participate. Several times a year we also train with colleagues from the rest of the hospital.

We work in the Emergency Department focused on our nursing from the framework ‘Fundamentals of Care’.

All nurses employed in the Emergency Department will eventually be able to apply for the specialist education in Emergency Nursing in Region Midtjylland.

Positions

The positions are by default full-time positions.

Appointment on 01.01.2027 or by agreement. These are positions with mixed shifts.

Work organization

It is important to us that all life stages can be combined with working in our Emergency Department, which is why we work with a very flexible approach to planning, where there is room for individual wishes.&n bsp;If you go to handball on Wednesdays, we can plan around that. Or do you have shared custody children? Then we can plan shifts to suit you.

We are also flexible regarding weekends. There is the possibility to work every 2nd, 3rd or every 4th weekend – you decide.

Introduction

We have a dedicated introduction nurse who helps plan your introduction.

We tailor your introduction program individually depending on your competences, so you are challenged and develop at a pace that matches your starting point.

We plan theme days within the first months of your employment, just as you will participate in training in our simulation center within the first months.

You will become part of the department’s Onboarding program, which among other things means that you will be assigned a mentor who you will also be followed with during the introduction period. The mentor together with you ensures that you settle into the department – and become part of our good working environment.
