Chief Financial Officer

Vesthimmerlands Municipality is seeking a Chief Financial Officer who can combine solid financial expertise with strong leadership skills and strategic vision. You will occupy a central position close to the municipality's top administrative and political leadership and have the opportunity to influence both the financial management and the development of the municipality.

Vesthimmerlands Municipality has decided to change the administrative organization so that the CFO from 1 February 2027 reports directly to the city manager. You will thus become an important strategic sparring partner for the city manager and the executive leadership and will have a central role in the financial support of the Economic Committee and the City Council.

You will join a well-run municipality with a sound and stable economy, effective financial management and a strong collaborative culture. There is no burning platform here, but a solid foundation and good opportunities to shape the continued development.

You will be responsible for Finance, Payroll and HR with around 32 employees distributed across two departments. You will lead through two department heads and must create direction, support professional competence and further develop a well-functioning department with a good working environment.

In addition to ensuring continued solid financial management and professional operations, you will have particular responsibility for:

• Strengthening the financial analytical capacity and the strategic decision-support.
• Developing the common financial professionalism and the collaboration between the municipality's central and decentralized financial functions.
• Utilizing opportunities within digitization, automation and AI to develop the administrative task handling.

We expect you to have solid insight into public economics, preferably from a municipality, and substantial leadership experience. Knowledge of the payroll and HR area will be an advantage. You have strategic and analytical capacity, political acumen and strong communication skills. You can communicate complex economics clearly and understandably and are willing to challenge constructively.
