Economics Consultant in the Labor Market

Do you have a flair for financial management, analysis and advisory – and are you motivated by applying your financial expertise to a significant municipal area?

We are seeking a financial consultant who will contribute to securing a solid financial foundation in the labor market area. You will play an important role in financial management. You should have both a focus on the ongoing operations and the ability to lift your gaze and analyze the development in economics, activity and initiatives. At the same time you will get close to the management in the labor market area, where you will become a key financial sparring partner and contribute with an overview, analyses and a strong basis for decisions.

Your role

As a financial consultant you will have close collaboration with managers and professionals in the areas you support. You must be able to translate financial data into knowledge that can be used in daily management and in strategic and political decisions.

A significant part of the job is therefore not only to follow the economy, but also to understand what drives it . This may include developments in the number of citizens, changes in target groups and initiatives, legislation or other conditions that affect activity levels and costs.

You must be able to ask relevant questions, challenge constructively and together with the management create a clear picture of both the current financial situation and the expected development.

Your tasks

You will, among other things, work with

• budgeting, budget follow-up and financial closing
• continuous financial management and forecasts in the Labor Market area.
• analyses of the relationships between economy, activity and professional initiatives
• advisory and financial sparring with managers and budget holders
• preparation of decision bases, memos and contributions to political matters
• calculations and financial impact assessments in connection with new initiatives, amended legislation and political decisions
• support for work with efficiency improvements and financial action plans

Tasks will vary over the year, and you will have the opportunity to work with both fixed financial management, daily operations and with analysis/development tasks.

We are looking for you who can make the economy usable

We anticipate that you have a relevant education, e.g. cand.oecon., cand.polit., cand.merc. etc. or another relevant master’s degree from a university, university college or similar.

It is an advantage if you have experience with financial management from a municipality or another politically led organization, but the crucial thing is that you have a strong analytical approach and a desire to get into complex professional areas.

You will become part of the municipality's central finance department, where we work with financial management, budgeting, accounting, analysis and advisory across the municipality.

Employment and practical information

We look forward to your application, which we have no later than 10 November 2026 . We expect to conduct interviews on 19 November 2026 . The position is 37 hours per week with start as soon as possible or 1 January 2027.

Middelfart Municipality is a value-based municipality focusing on the idea that the municipality is one common unit, collaborating across the municipality's departments and areas for the citizen's best. The municipal administration is located at Nytorv 9, 5500 Middelfart.

Salary placement follows the agreement for academics employed in municipalities, our pre-agreements and possibly individual allowances based on special competencies, knowledge or experience. The position’s salary range is expected to be from DKK 36,560.46 to DKK 46,498.13 per month, depending on the candidate’s seniority, further education and personal competences. The salary range is calculated as full-time monthly salary excl. pension. The above salary range includes a location allowance.
