About the job

Do you want to help strengthen Denmark's national crisis management and join a central 24/7 function with decisive importance for the country's overall emergency preparedness?

The Danish Agency for Civil Protection and Crisis Management (SAMSIK) seeks a committed and analytically strong employee for a new 24/7 function within the National Situational Centre.

Welcome to

In connection with the establishment of a around-the-clock staffed function in SAMSIK, a new operational capacity is being built to support Denmark's national crisis management outside normal working hours. The 24/7 function serves as the agency's operational contact point and also participates in the work with the secretariat for the National Operational Staff (NOST).

The role

The function is established as part of the creation of the National Situational Centre and will play a central role in its development. The Situational Centre will be a shared physical and organizational environment where staff from the NOST secretariat and Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRT) cyber operations- and situational centre work side by side. To supplement the already employed operators, we are seeking an additional operator who can participate in a shift rotation.

You will be part of a fixed on-call shift in two- or three-shift rotations with shifts of 12 or 8 hours, and you will need to work closely with the duty manager, other colleagues on the shift, as well as relevant authorities and partners. During the shift you operateally report to the duty manager in the National Situational Centre.

Your daily life with us

As an employee in the 24/7 function you will have a central role in ongoing situation monitoring, analysis and operational support of the duty manager and the agency's leadership.

You contribute to creating and maintaining an accurate national situational picture across incidents – including incidents with significance for preparedness, critical infrastructure, supply security and cybersecurity.

Your tasks will be

  • Ongoing national and international situation monitoring.
  • Collection, analysis and synthesis of information from open sources, authorities and technical systems.
  • Preparation of situation pictures and decision support for management and the duty manager.
  • Identification of patterns, trends and deviations from the normal picture.
  • Support of the agency's crisis management organization, including preparation for activation of the crisis staff.
  • Maintenance of NOST’s 24/7 secretariat function (phone, email and forwarding).
  • Function as single point of contact for selected SAMSIK offices outside normal working hours.
  • Ongoing documentation and registration of incidents and assessments.
  • Contribute to the development and professionalization of the 24/7 function and the upcoming situational centre.

Depending on your profile, the tasks may have a primarily analytical focus or a more system-technical and operational focus, including operation and development of monitoring and information systems.

About you

We are looking for a profile motivated by working operationally in a 24/7 function with great societal significance.

We would like you to

  • have a relevant higher education (e.g., social sciences, security-, IT-, technical or other relevant background).
  • have strong analytical abilities and can work in a structured and methodical manner with information processing and documentation.
  • can maintain an overview and work systematically in complex and time-pressured situations.
  • can convey complex matters clearly and precisely – both in writing and orally.
  • thrive with shift work and responsibility in a 24/7 function.
  • can prioritise a large amount of tasks and assess what is critical and time-sensitive.
  • are collaborative and can join a cross-disciplinary environment with different professional backgrounds.

It is an advantage if you have experience from situation centres, control rooms, crisis management, analysis, intelligence, journalism, cybersecurity or technical operations, but it is not a requirement.

What we offer you

We offer you a job in an organization in development with dedicated employees who every day take on an important societal task. We have a good working environment and a welcoming culture where well-being and performance go hand in hand. We come together across disciplines and cultures and are in the process of building a strong workplace.
