About the job

Are you interested in optimization and operations management? Do you have, for example, experience analyzing operational data, productivity, throughput times, etc., and providing leadership input and developing solutions to improve productivity? We are seeking a candidate who is keen to become a specialist in operations management and who wants to work closely with leaders in our case-handling offices on managing operations and achieving objectives. You will also become part of our Development Office, where you will be close to what is happening in an independent complaints authority.

Help increase productivity through operations management

At the Tax Appeals Board Development Office, we would like to welcome a new colleague who has experience, for example, in operations management, optimization, analysis, or other management tasks. You want to get right into the engine room and, together with managers and employees, improve and optimize the board's productivity.

At the moment we spend a lot of our time implementing an operations management model in the agency. The model focuses on efficient production management and increased productivity. You will become part of the operations organization, i.e., a new role that will be initiated in January 2027.

Here you will, together with one other colleague, be the operations management support for the agency's departmental offices. Your colleague covers a number of offices in Aalborg, Silkeborg and Odense, while you will cover a few offices in Odense and a number of offices in Copenhagen. This means that your time is split between analyzing and improving operations data, supporting and advising office managers regarding operations — but also with the offices to find optimization opportunities and improve productivity.

Your work day may include, together with an office manager, preparing and conducting operations meetings, following up on the productivity of individual employees, coaching on the operations management model's tools, or briefing the department head or office head regarding cross-office and production patterns.

You will become part of an office consisting of nine colleagues with diverse academic backgrounds. We work with both larger and smaller development projects, implementation activities and management tasks. Together we help the Tax Appeals Board develop and support the organization’s business. We have close contact with managers, employees and the board. We also maintain ongoing dialogue with the Ministry of Taxation and Growth and other external authorities.

At the Tax Appeals Board we support flexible work arrangements, and the framework for work planning you discuss with your manager based on the overall workload. You should expect to have some work days each month in Odense, but the majority of your working time will be in Copenhagen.

Your responsibilities and main tasks are, that

  • Consult with managers on daily operations management, including goal attainment and possible actions to deliver on targets
  • Support managers in preparing, conducting and following up on operations meetings with staff, as well as assisting with the development of dashboards, communicating insights and linking to action
  • Assist office heads and staff in using and adapting tools within the agency's operations management model
  • Map workflows and bottlenecks, identify and share best practices, and run improvements
  • Analyze operational data (case volumes, throughput time, productivity, deadline compliance, etc.) at the departmental, location and office level to monitor goal attainment, identify patterns and opportunities for improvement in case production
  • Work with data sources (case systems, including Workzone Client, Power BI and Excel) and ensure data quality.
  • Engage in close dialogue with department heads about operations management in the offices and potential needs for actions (both overall and local).
  • Responsible for onboarding new managers and staff into the operations management model and tools.

With these tasks we imagine you

  • Have an advanced degree in social sciences and experience with optimizing productivity and operations management
  • Can build trust and ownership with managers and engage in many collaborative relationships and with many stakeholders; can both challenge and support
  • Are robust, able to work independently and persistent; thrives in a busy operation
  • Can understand operations-related challenges and identify solutions based on best practices
  • Are analytically strong, structured and improvement-driven with a view to both whole and detail
  • Can collect, process and analyze data to find patterns and improvement opportunities. Have experience working in Workzone Client, Excel and PowerBI
  • Can communicate messages about operations management clearly and collaborate on operations management at all levels of the organization.

Your new leader Troels Winther looks forward to meeting you

”As a future specialist and operations management support, you can look forward to collaborating with leaders and employees across the agency – to improve and ensure the agency's productivity. You will work largely independently and will have a major influence on your tasks. To quickly understand the organization, you can rely on good colleagues in the Development Office who have extensive experience entering the agency's business area. In our daily work, we value sparring with each other and drawing on our different competencies to build shared learning.”, says Troels Winther.

Did you know…

… that the Tax Appeals Board is one of the country’s largest legal workplaces, covering the full spectrum of complexity in tax law – from property assessments to transfer pricing and taxation of wage earners.

… that the Tax Appeals Board is an independent appeal authority. This means that when a citizen or business has received a decision from, for example, the Tax Agency, which they do not agree with, they can appeal to us. It may concern which tax or VAT they must pay. Our main task is to help citizens and businesses obtain the correct decision in their case within a reasonable processing time. Every day we go to work to ensure legal certainty, and we think this gives our work meaning.
