We are seeking an employee for a permanent position and an employee for a 1-year trainee posting.
Do you want to help support people in creating and maintaining a life in their own home?
Forsorgscenter Toften is a self-governing institution under KFUM’s Social Work and has a service agreement with Slagelse Municipality. We work with people in vulnerable positions, where homelessness, mental health vulnerability, substance use issues, loneliness, and financial and social challenges are often part of a complex life situation.
We work from a value-based approach and a clear ethical profile. For us, it is the citizen who sets the task, and the task that sets the team.
Across Forsorgscenter Toften we work trauma-informed. This means we are curious about what lies behind the citizen's reactions and behavior, and we focus on creating safety, trust and predictability in the meeting with the individual.
We are seeking a field-based social-educational professional who is passionate about relationship work, independence and making a concrete difference together with the citizen in their own life and own home.
About the position
As a field-based employee you will be part of Toften's effort for citizens who live in, or are on their way to living in, their own housing.
You will as a field-based employee be attached to either the social-educational support under the Danish Social Services Act §85 or our Housing First initiative, where we work according to the housing support methods CTI (Critical Time Intervention) and ICM (Intensive Case Management)
Common to the initiatives is that we base our work on the individual citizen's wishes, needs and goals.
You must therefore be able to work in front of, beside and behind the citizen
- Lead the way when the citizen needs concrete support, guidance and help to create an overview.
- Walk beside when things must be learned, tested and solved together.
- Step behind when the citizen can take control themselves, and your role is to support, motivate and maintain development.
The aim is not to take over the citizen's life, but to support the citizen in mastering it.
A workday that rarely looks like the previous one
As a field-based employee, a large part of your work takes place where the citizen's life unfolds. It could be in the citizen's home, in the municipality, at the doctor, or with other relevant actors in the citizen's network.
The tasks may include
- Support the citizen in establishing and maintaining their own housing, create structure and mastery in daily life, including ADL and developing their own skills
- Support the citizen regarding finances, mail, appointments and contact with public authorities.
- Support the citizen in building and maintaining social relationships and participation in the local community
- Coordinate and bridge to relevant partners and ensure that the citizen receives the right help across the system
- Work recovery-oriented based on the citizen's own hopes, wishes and resources - also in periods when the citizen's life becomes unstable or challenging
- Document the intervention and work systematically with goals and sub-goals together with the citizen
Some days require a structured plan. Other days require the plan to be adaptable due to other arising needs. Therefore, you must thrive in a job where the relationship is your most important work tool, and where professionalism also means being flexible and seeing possibilities rather than limitations.
We are looking for a colleague who
- Has a relevant social-educational education, e.g. pedagogue, social worker or other relevant background, with experience with socially vulnerable, homelessness, psychiatry and/or substance use
- Has knowledge of Housing First, CTI and/or ICM, or is eager to learn and develop within the methods
- Can work trauma-informed, recovery-oriented and harm-reduction, and meet the citizen with curiosity, respect and insight into what lies behind behavior and reactions
- Is strong in relationship work, can motivate and support without taking over, with respect for the citizen's choice, tempo and self-determination
- Can work independently, maintain calm and overview in changing situations and at the same time see the value of professional sparring with a strong team
- Can collaborate and coordinate with authorities, treatment systems, healthcare and other relevant partners
- Works in a structured and professional way with documentation, where goals, follow-up and status are a meaningful part of Toften's fidelity
- Is flexible and thrives with a field-based day, where tasks are planned based on the citizen's needs and where a large part of the work takes place independently in the citizen's own home
- Can and will contribute positively to the work environment through professional reflection, supervision, sparring, good humor and dialogue
A driving license is necessary, as a substantial part of the work takes place at the citizens' homes.
We offer
A meaningful daily life with a high degree of autonomy and the opportunity to make a real difference for people in vulnerable positions. You will become part of a dedicated and multidisciplinary community with room for growth, where we believe in what people can achieve, and where we also dare to be curious about our own professional practice.
Professional sparring with colleagues and management as a natural part of everyday life, with room for different perspectives, humor and professional development. We share a trauma-informed professional direction that underpins our meeting with the citizens and the way we develop our practice.
A common theme in our work is that the citizen sets the task and the task sets the team.
Terms of employment
Salary and terms of employment according to the applicable collective agreement between KL and the professional organization.
Further information about the position can be obtained from team leader Rikke Olsen at telephone 21 18 65 46 or employee Pia Terkelsen at telephone 30 95 40 22. You can also obtain additional information about Toften on the website.
Application with documentation of education and previous employment should be submitted via Slagelse Municipality's website and uploaded electronically. The application must be received by us as soon as possible .
