About the job

Chief Physician with professional leadership responsibility for the T-cell lymphoma area

HematoLOGY Department X, Odense University Hospital, seeks as of February 1, 2027 a chief physician with responsibility for the professional leadership and development within the T-cell lymphoma area.

Are you a specialist in hematology, and do you want to lead the professional development of a complex and specialized disease area? Do you aspire to set the direction for clinical practice, strengthen the research, and develop the quality of diagnostic work and treatment of patients with T-cell lymphoma? Then you may be our upcoming colleague.

We are seeking a chief physician who will take on a clear professional leadership role and contribute to the further development of the area in close collaboration with the department's other physicians, the lymphoid team, relevant interprofessional partners and national and international professional environments.

Hematology Department X has for more than 10 years established itself as a strong national and international clinical and research capacity within, among other things, lymphoma diseases. We want to maintain and strengthen this position.

T-cell lymphoma diseases constitute a heterogeneous group of diseases, often associated with a serious prognosis, and where there is still a need to develop new treatment options. The upcoming chief physician will therefore play a central role in setting the direction for clinical development and research in the area, strengthening the possibilities for protocol-driven treatment and working to ensure that relevant patients have access to new and experimental treatments.

Your leadership tasks and responsibilities

You will assume professional responsibility for driving and developing the department's area of T-cell lymphoma diseases. This means you should be able to translate professional ambitions into concrete initiatives and ensure progress in collaboration with the department's other staff and leadership.

Your central tasks will be to

  • Set professional direction: Ensure and further develop high quality in diagnosing, treating and following up with patients with T-cell lymphoma, as well as contribute to the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and treatment strategies.
  • Drive clinical development: Identify professional development needs and translate new knowledge and new treatment options into clinical practice.
  • Strengthen research and innovation: Develop the clinical and academic research area, including initiating and supporting clinical studies, protocol-driven treatment and access to new experimental treatments.
  • Create coherence across: Support effective interprofessional collaboration and ensure coordination between clinic, research and quality work internally in the department as well as regionally and nationally.
  • Represent the department externally: Actively participate in relevant local, national and international professional forums where relevant and agreed.

You will become part of the lymphoid team and, in close collaboration with the department's and team's other physicians and the department's leadership, contribute to prioritizing, coordinating and implementing development, quality and educational initiatives. We expect you to work independently, create support for professional goals and take responsibility for ensuring that initiatives are put into practice.

About you

We are seeking a specialist in hematology with a minimum of five years' experience after the specialist recognition and solid clinical experience with diagnosis and treatment of T-cell lymphoma.

We place particular emphasis on the following

  • Willingness and ability to take on a clear professional leadership responsibility for the T-cell lymphoma area and set the direction for its continued development.
  • Ability to prioritize development needs, create progress and follow up on professional initiatives and results.
  • Documented research experience and experience with guidance and preferably obtained a Ph.D. degree.
  • Interest in establishing and developing clinical studies, protocol-driven treatment and access to new treatment modalities.
  • Interest in participating in national professional collaborations and committee work within lymphoma.
  • Ability to collaborate across professional groups and organizational units and garner support for common professional goals.
  • Focus on the patient perspective and desire to develop patient involvement in clinical practice, research and innovation.

We do not expect you to solve the tasks alone. You will be part of a strong professional environment where we prioritize collaboration, sparring and shared responsibility for the quality and development of our treatment offering.

A little about the department

The Hematology Department X is a workplace with about 240 staff. The department has several highly specialized functions and generally a high level of ambition. • A lymphoid team handling research, diagnostic work and treatment of patients with malignant lymphoproliferative diseases
  • A myelomatosis team handling research, diagnostic work and treatment of patients with myelomatosis, AL-amyloidosis and Mb. Waldenström
  • An myeloid team handling research, diagnostic work and treatment of patients with acute leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, chronic myeloproliferative diseases as well as follow-up of allogeneic transplant recipients. Within this team also eosinophilia and mastocytosis
  • A benign team handling research, diagnostic work and treatment of patients with benign hematological diseases.

What we offer?

The position offers very good opportunities for personal and professional development, and you will largely have the opportunity to shape the job's special focus areas yourself. You will have a position with good colleagues and a strong academic environment. The department's culture is characterized by growth and integrity, and we focus on the patient and relatives. We also have an active research environment, including clinical research as well as epidemiological, laboratory and qualitative research. The department is noted for a good and informal working tone and for strong cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Our values

Our department is bound together by a special value community – does it fit you?

We work together
