Consultant to the obstetric team, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Randers Regional Hospital

We have a position as chief physician in the obstetric team at the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Randers Regional Hospital, to be filled by 1 March 2027 or by agreement.

We work multidisciplinary and team-based for good and valuable patient pathways and keep to the latest professional developments. All specialists hold organizational or administrative roles, and we share the responsibility for getting today’s tasks done. We have a flat management structure and there is often little time from idea to implementation.

Obstetric team

The obstetric team consists of 5 specialists with functions in the Pregnancy Clinic, on the delivery ward, and in the management of elective cesarean sections.

In the Pregnancy Clinic obstetric ultrasound and fetal medicine are performed in collaboration with 6 sonographers, of whom two are professional coordinators. Recently we have developed new patient pathways within gestational diabetes and hypertension, and we look forward to collaborating with the endocrinologists on pregnant women with insulin‑requiring gestational diabetes in 2027.

We have around 2300 births annually, of which about 175 are elective cesarean sections from AUH’s catchment area. We have a close collaboration with the neonatal department in the building and have births from 28+0 weeks.

The delivery department has 6 labor rooms and clinical midwife supervision in a 24/7 function. We use upright UK techniques and have annual team training sessions in acute obstetrics.

That the family can be together before, during and after birth is one of the department’s core values.

Medical staffing norms

We are 1 chief physician, 4 consultants, 8 specialists, 4 doctors in H‑positions, 2 doctors in I‑positions and 6–8 junior doctors.

Research

The department has an active research environment and participates in several national and international clinical studies.

There is attached 1 clinical associate professor and 1 external lecturer to the department.

The department in numbers

Gynecology and Obstetrics, Randers Regional Hospital serves the northeast part of Region Midt with a population base of about 220,000. The department has a shared gynecological/puerperal/maternity ward with 10 beds that adjoins the neonatal department. Annually there are about 3,000 admissions and 1,500 operations, of which the majority are performed in the day-surgery setting. We have a total of 34,000 outpatient visits annually.

The department has a close collaboration with Aarhus University Hospital, as we handle elective cesarean sections as well as the function for induced abortion, sterilization and cervical dysplasia for patients from AUH’s catchment area.

The department forms together with Children and Young People in a joint department with shared budget responsibility. Clinically and organizationally, refer to the chief physician within the respective specialty.【/p】
