About the job

Do you want to help make a difference for children with special needs in a safe, structured and development-promoting learning environment?

We need you who are passionate about relationship-based work and about making a positive difference in children's lives

At Svinninge School we are looking for a trained educator for our contact classes T3 and T4. Here we work purposefully to create structure, predictability and well-being in daily life for our total 21 wonderful children in the upper grades. In time you may also work with our younger students in the contact classes, depending on the varying needs.

The position invites both part-time or full-time. If you want full-time, your hours will be supplemented with tasks and good hours in our after-school care (SFO).

About the contact classes

At Svinninge School we have four contact classes, which together cover grades 0–9. Each class has up to 10 students and is organized in collaboration with the school's general department.

Some activities take place in the contact classes, while others are shared with the general classes – giving both closeness, community and flexibility. In the contact classes we focus on adapting the day to the group of children, with activities both outdoors and indoors. We have rooms adjacent to the local forest, which we like to use as an extension of our learning framework.

We have a sensory-stimulating everyday life with a focus on regulating the students' nervous systems, which is why we, among other things, explore nature, ride scooters and roller skates, make fires and whittle sticks, etc. We also have nature/tech, visual arts as well as craft and design from 0th grade, where the students' gross- and fine-motor skills are challenged.

There is clear structure and boundaries, high professionalism and a solid collegial collaboration to lean on. We work, among other things, from ICDP and the low arousal approach, and we believe that behavior always has a cause, where our most important task is to understand and support the child from that perspective.

Your tasks as a contact class educator

As a contact class educator in T3 and T4 you will have a central role in the work around the children's well-being, learning and development.

Your tasks include, among other things to

  • Plan and implement pedagogical processes for children with special needs, preferably involving nature
  • Create safe, predictable and development-promoting learning frameworks with adaptability
  • Prepare, follow up on and document pedagogical action plans
  • Engage in close collaboration with parents, teachers, colleagues and external professionals
  • Participate in meetings and interdisciplinary collaborations

You are the one who sees the child behind the behavior, and acts with calm, structure and heart:

We are looking for an educator who

  • Works in a structured, calm and with an overview – even when the day becomes unpredictable
  • Has experience with (or willingness to learn) the low arousal approach and to work from an appreciative view of children
  • Sees beyond the behavior and can work with causes and solutions at the child’s eye level
  • Communicates clearly – both orally and in writing – and contributes to an open and trusting contact with parents
  • Thrives in a multidisciplinary collaboration where one both gives and receives sparring
  • Would welcome experience with or interest in outdoor life and working with wood

About Svinninge School

At Svinninge School we want to build a school with many doors. We have a clear mission: To form and educate whole people in close collaboration with students, parents, staff and the local community.

We all enter through the same door each morning, but we send our students out through many different doors – with regard to their different talents, potential and paths in life.

Our vision is a diverse and inclusive learning culture where all students are seen and heard. Well-being is a constant focus in everything we do, and we work purposefully so that all children have a place in at least one social and academic community.

We are an engaged and ambitious school, where development, collaboration and professionalism go hand in hand – and where we look forward to welcoming a new colleague into our strong community.

Do you want to help make a difference for children with special needs, in a professionally strong and warm community?

We offer coffee and a tour of the school and share good answers to any questions you may have. Contact the principal, Søren Kæstel Christensen, at tel. 72 36 22 58 to arrange further details.

We look forward to hearing from you already!
