About the job

Melius Husene has welcomed new residents, and therefore we need more good people in our two houses.

We are seeking a pedagogue assistant who thrives with an active working day, can take responsibility and wants to work closely with people who need support, structure and presence in everyday life.

You do not need to be a trained pedagogue. However, you must have relevant experience, be confident in yourself, and have a desire to use yourself in the work.

Who are Melius Husene?

Melius Husene is a small residential facility consisting of two houses. We work with residents who have different and individual support needs, and our starting point is that the resident should be at the center of the efforts we provide.

We would like to create homes rather than institutions. Therefore, we emphasize closeness, homely surroundings and a daily life where there is room for the individual person.

We are a place with strong pedagogical professionalism, but also with plenty of room to grow. We believe that professionalism develops when we dare to talk to each other, be curious and listen to those who are close to the residents in everyday life.

With us there should be room for pedagogical input and new ideas. At the same time, we stand together in the shared direction regarding the individual resident.

We are not a large organization where there is a long distance from idea to action. We want to be close to both residents and staff and create a place where people know each other and take responsibility for the shared everyday life.

You should be able to be something for another person

The work largely revolves around relationships.

Some of our residents need a staff member close by for large parts of the day. This requires that you can be calm, clear and present – even when things do not go exactly as planned.

You should be able to take the initiative for a walk, a drive, training, activities or something else that makes sense for the individual. Other times it’s about dialing it down, creating calm and just being there.

We are looking for someone who has natural optimism, but who also understands that care can mean giving another person time and space.

Here everyone takes part

We live and work in homely surroundings, and therefore the practical tasks are a natural part of the workday.

There is cooking to be done, shopping, tidying up, washing clothes and taking care of the small and large things that make a home function. If you see something that needs doing, we expect you to take action.

A workday can therefore consist of pedagogical interaction, a trip out of the house, practical tasks and the unforeseen situations that arise along the way.

It is precisely this mix that is everyday life for us.

You do not need to know everything

We already have a strong professional basis in the houses. You will work together with experienced staff, and there is the possibility for sparring and to develop as you go.

We are especially looking for you who

  • have relevant experience from, for example, residential facilities, the special needs sector, psychiatry or similar
  • are confident in yourself and can remain calm
  • treat residents with respect and on an equal footing
  • can be firm without being harsh
  • have humor, energy and engagement
  • take initiative and see where a hand is needed
  • are not afraid of practical tasks
  • can follow the professional direction regarding the resident
  • take responsibility for your shifts, your tasks and your colleagues.

We are building something up

With new residents in the houses also come new relationships, new routines and new opportunities.

We need staff who want to be part of that process.

There is room to grow here. If you have an idea for an activity, you see something that could be done differently, or you have a good input for everyday life, we would love to hear it.

For us, it ultimately comes down to something quite fundamental: creating a home where residents experience care, presence and security – and have people around them who genuinely want to be there.

If you can see yourself in that and at the same time are the type who roll up your sleeves and pitch in, we would love to hear from you.
