About the job

The Bornholmsgade Daycare seeks 1 pedagogical assistant for maternity leave cover

The position is 30 hours with start on December 1st or as soon as possible thereafter

The Bornholmsgade Daycare is part of Dagtilbud Sønderbro, which consists of 12 institutions located in the Sønderbro school district. Bornholmsgade is a well-established and well-functioning institution with 17 years of experience. We are staffed for 43 toddlers and 83 preschool children.

The children are distributed into 4 age-graded groups. We have three departments with both toddler and preschool groups (north, south, east). In our large group we welcome the house's oldest children.

The staff consists of educators, pedagogical assistants/educational assistants, student teachers, and two nutrition-culinary officers who are responsible for meals for all children in Bornholmsgade. We collaborate on the core task and share the small daily successes.

We work from an educational framework where appreciative relations are at the center

In the Bornholmsgade Daycare, diversity is seen as a resource, and the house hosts many different nationalities, among both staff and children. We have a particular focus on creating safe and presence-filled relationships with all children, and we meet them with respect for their individual needs and interests.

At Bornholmsgade Daycare we work systematically in task solving, where the strengthened pedagogical curriculum, planned activities, children's play, and the child’s perspective are integrated into the pedagogical work throughout the day. We have a special focus on language work due to our composition of children. Therefore, we design flexible learning environments with visual support such as pictograms that create predictability and mastery.

The pedagogical approach at Bornholmsgade Daycare is based on meeting the child at their intention rather than their actions, in an appreciative, relation- and resource-oriented manner.

At Bornholmsgade Daycare we believe that a strong and trustful parent collaboration is the key to children’s well-being and development. We work purposefully to build trustful relationships with families - relationships based on professionalism and mutual respect. We actively work with documentation and evaluation as central tools in our daily practice and development of quality in our institution. Our approach is anchored in ICDP and Nest, and we use concrete evaluation tools to continuously develop and strengthen our pedagogical practice.

You will as a future colleague meet committed colleagues who are passionate about creating a safe and trusting everyday life for all children. As a new colleague you will help to continue to ensure that all children in our institution can learn, be, succeed and grow. We are seeking a colleague who will actively contribute to the task, where our ambition is to develop pedagogical quality in practice and in the daycare setting, to ensure all our children's well-being, development, learning and formation.

We are looking for a pedagogical assistant who possesses the following competencies

  • you are passionate about working with the target group 0-6 years
  • you are flexible and able to adapt
  • you can see the value of daily practical work
  • you are passionate about creating safe, present and engaged relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
  • by meeting parents with openness, respect
  • by sharing knowledge about the child’s well-being and development in a clear and empathetic way that has a view of humanity, recognizing resources in diversity and respecting people’s differences
  • you can collegially offer sparring, and you are able to reflect together with the educators on the children's well-being, development, learning and formation
  • focus on strengthening the child’s attachment and relationship-building
  • see care and presence as important conditions in working to create well-being, learning, development and formation for all children in the institution
  • you can organize a daily life with structure and recognizability in collaboration with the educators
  • you work independently and can structure daily practical tasks that support the pedagogical practice in daily life
  • can plan, carry out and evaluate varied pedagogical activities in close collaboration with the educators
  • you are motivated to learn and develop professionally and personally

We can offer

  • a committed, competent and supportive staff group that is passionate about their professionalism and the pedagogical core task - with us there is no distance from thought to action
  • a workplace with a strong collegial collaboration on the task
  • a workplace where difference and diversity are regarded as a resource
  • a workplace where professional development, sparring and mentorship are in focus
  • a workplace with responsibility and influence in daily life
  • a workplace where there is focus on job satisfaction
  • a professional leader who emphasizes visible leadership, collaboration, development, learning and well-being for children and staff
