About the job

Can you build good relationships, and can you see yourself working regularly on weekends? Then we may have the job for you.

At Grøndalsvænge we are looking for someone who wants to be a stable part of the everyday lives of people with developmental disabilities and various mental and physical functional impairments.

We are seeking a fixed weekend substitute averaging eight hours per week – every other weekend. Shifts are from 07:00 to 23:00, so it is important that you can work within this time frame and are keen on a fixed weekend routine.

Grøndalsvænge has lively and unique residents

Grøndalsvænge is located in Copenhagen NV close to Fuglebakken Station. Here live 48 people aged 40-80, all of whom have mental and physical disabilities and need help and support in everyday life in various ways. Several residents have significant physical disabilities and receive support for, among other things, care, communication, and activities with the aim of living as independent a life as possible. The residents therefore require extensive pedagogical support and care as well as health-related treatment.

At Grøndalsvænge we also have an internal day service and a lovely sensory garden, and we regularly arrange activities and experiences for the residents.

Your everyday life with us

As a fixed weekend substitute you will become part of a team with pedagogues, care assistants and colleagues with a health care background. Together we work to create good and meaningful lives for the residents.

We all work pedagogically and perform many of the same tasks. This also means that as a weekend substitute you will become an important part of the daily effort and have the opportunity to get to know the residents well.

The work may include

  • pedagogical support and care
  • personal care
  • support for communication and activities
  • documentation
  • health-related tasks
  • creating structure, recognisability and security for each resident

Our theoretical framework is neuro-pedagogy. Based on pedagogical observations we go behind the resident's behavior and seek to understand what meaning it has for the individual to display this behavior.

About you

We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference and be a stable adult in the residents' everyday lives. You do not necessarily need to be a trained educator or have experience in the field. The most important is that you want to work with people, can collaborate with your colleagues and meet the residents with respect, calm, and curiosity.

We emphasise that you

  • are stable and responsible
  • can create safe and predictable frameworks
  • are eager to work with people with varying needs
  • can collaborate and contribute positively to the team
  • are open to both pedagogical and care-related tasks
  • can work independently while knowing when to ask a colleague for help

We work with fixed routines and clear communication, because it helps create a safe and recognisable everyday life for the residents. At the same time there is room for humor, presence and good moments when the residents want it.

With us you will be well introduced

We place great emphasis on giving new employees a good start. You will follow experienced colleagues in your introductory shifts, so you have the opportunity to learn both the residents, the tasks and the house's rhythm before you are more on your own. You will also become part of a workplace where we focus on professional development and on learning from each other. You will among other things be able to get sparring from our social and health coordinators.

Terms of employment

You are employed as a fixed-term substitute, and salary and terms of employment follow the applicable collective agreement for pedagogical staff. We will obtain references and a criminal record as part of the recruitment process.

This is a permanent weekend substitute position with start date 1 December 2026.
