About the job

Are you passionate about physiotherapy, and do you want to make a real difference for children with special needs? Then you might be the one we are looking for.

The position is 27 hours per week with start on 1 December 2026.

Who are we?

The special day care Krudtmøllen is a small, cozy special-pedagogical day care, normed to 16 children aged 0-6 years, and which is organized under The Child Act §§ 82, 83 and 85.

We work, among other things, with children within the autism spectrum, genetic disorders and syndromes. This wonderful and diverse group of children includes sensitive children with extensive motor, sensory and communicative challenges. What they all have in common is that they need great support in everyday life.

In close collaboration with the parents, the children are offered a calm and flexible environment where an affirmative approach and the use of alternative communication methods are at the forefront.

Krudtmøllen is located at Gerbrandsvej 5A, 2300 Copenhagen S. The opening hours of the institution are 7:15-16:15 on all weekdays. The children are distributed in two rooms.

The staff group includes educators, teaching aides, physiotherapists and occupational therapists as well as a janitor, kitchen and cleaning staff.

The core task of Special Cluster

We create frameworks so that children with special needs get the best possible opportunities for well-being, development and learning to master life. This is done in collaboration with the children’s parents.

About Special Cluster

Krudtmøllen is part of Special Cluster in the City of Copenhagen. Special Cluster consists of eight special day cares for children aged 0-6 years in total. The institutions are scattered around Copenhagen Municipality.

As a therapist in Special Cluster you will become part of a larger network consisting of physiotherapists and occupational therapists. We meet four to six times a year for professional presentations and sparring. You will have influence and the opportunity for competence development in courses such as e.g. sensory integration, neurodynamics, fascial and connective tissue treatments and sensory profiling.

Job profile

In Special Cluster we work systematically based on

  • Well-being assessments (TOPI)
  • Status reports and action plans
  • SMTTE model

The daily life as a physiotherapist

You will become part of a small physiotherapy and occupational therapy team, consisting of you as the physiotherapist and one occupational therapist. We are co-creating conditions for children with developmental disorders to have the best prerequisites for well-being and learning to master life. This is achieved, among other things, through motor-challenging play, cognitive tasks, sensory stimulation and arousal regulation. The aim is especially to improve the child’s ability to self-regulate, to express themselves and to participate in social interaction.

In practice you will work with the children in programmes, often in collaboration with other professional groups. We have a strong focus on children learning best when they are part of a child community, therefore a large part of training will take place in small groups. However, some children may also require an individualized programme. You must therefore be able to prioritise your tasks and implement projects in an educational daily routine in collaboration with the educational staff.

Your core task is to analyse and clarify the individual child’s competencies, challenges and potential. From this, a meaningful training programme is planned and carried out with a focus on sensory integration, motor development and mental health. In connection with operations or further investigations there may be a need for your professional assessment in dialogue with hospitals.

Interprofessional collaboration

We work from the belief that an interdisciplinary effort will take us the furthest. Therefore we collaborate with and learn from each other across professions. In addition to the daily collaboration with educators, the interprofessional effort also takes place in dialogue with, among others, public health nurses, psychologists, speech-language pathologists as well as a fixed speech and hearing consultant. In addition, we are offered ongoing supervision where we discuss everyday challenges.

We are seeking a physiotherapist who

  • works independently and takes responsibility
  • actively participates in interprofessional collaboration with several professions
  • has experience with pediatric physiotherapy
  • preferably has experience with profession-specific treatment methods, including sensory integration, neurodynamics as well as manual treatment of fascia and connective tissue
  • has knowledge of the special pedagogical approach
  • has a patient and calm demeanor
  • finds working with children rewarding
  • can advise and guide in the use of assistive devices
  • can perform written documentation and journal entries
  • preferably has knowledge of and interest in alternative communication forms including Sign Supported Danish and PECS

In addition we emphasize that our upcoming physiotherapist is loyal and approachable in collaboration with parents, colleagues and the cluster’s management team.

We can offer you

  • an independent, meaningful and varied job
  • a physically active daily life
  • monoprofessional competence development and sparring
  • interprofessional learning, development and collaboration
  • professional colleagues
  • a positive and equal workplace community
  • shared responsibility and influence

You will also join a workplace that focuses on

  • work communities
  • communication/language
  • the good childhood
  • clear leadership and communication

Employment terms

Salary and terms of employment in accordance with the applicable collective agreement with the City of Copenhagen and within the framework of local salary formation.

The position is 27 hours per week with start on 1 December 2026.

In connection with the appointment we will obtain references as well as criminal and child protection checks.

You will be employed in Inner City/Northeast Special Cluster, which consists of eight municipal special day cares for children aged 0-6 years. We work across institutions in our work community, and we expect and allow everyone in the cluster to seek influence and take shared responsibility.
