About the job

Would you like to help strengthen children's desire to read, create strong cultural communities and experiences, and strengthen collaborations that make a difference for children and families in Stevns?

Children's reading is under pressure. At the same time, we know that good cultural experiences, communities, and early preventive interventions can make a decisive difference in children's lives. Here, libraries play an important role.

Since Hårlev Library reopened as a children's culture house in 2024, development has progressed rapidly. New collaborations have emerged, activities have increased, and ambitions have grown. Among other things, we are therefore now seeking an engaged project manager who can help drive and further develop our work with children's culture.

Are you passionate about children's culture? Can you build relationships, bring people together around common goals, and carry projects safely from idea to reality? Do you thrive working independently and taking responsibility? Then perhaps you are the one we are looking for.

The library is in transformation

The library's role is evolving continuously, and our work with The Cultural Backpack, cultural mediation, and cross-cutting collaborations is in constant motion.

We are currently in a phase where existing collaborations must be strengthened and strong partnerships anchored. At the same time, the library director needs relief for organizational tasks and work with grant applications.

Your working time will be allocated between work with The Cultural Backpack and library tasks.

We imagine that you

  • Communicate naturally with children, young people, parents, partners, and colleagues
  • Thrive with both strategic and practical tasks
  • Are good at building relationships and developing strong networks
  • Work independently and take responsibility for delivering tasks
  • Have an eye for connections and the bigger picture
  • Are focused on the importance and role of public libraries in society

With us you get

  • A meaningful job where you help make a difference for children and families
  • Good opportunities for both professional and personal development
  • An exciting everyday life with a wide variation in tasks
  • A flexible and spacious workplace with room to think big and room for ideas – sometimes we are an anthill
  • Dedicated colleagues and leaders who work purposefully for the libraries' relevance and development

We believe that diverse experiences and professional backgrounds can contribute to our development. Therefore, regardless of whether you come from the library world or another field, we will tailor the tasks as best as possible to your competencies. Of course, we will also provide a thorough introduction to the libraries' operations and daily life.

About the job

Stevns Municipality has libraries in Store Heddinge, Hårlev and Strøby Egede.

You will be part of the overall library operations and will join the duty schedule with public service, including lending desk service every third Saturday.

The workplace will, as a rule, be the library in Store Heddinge, but with tasks and user assistance at all three libraries.

Is it you we are looking for?

If you want to know more about the position, you are welcome to contact Library Director May-Britt Diechmann at telephone number 21 15 69 85 between 8:30 and 9:00 on weekdays.

Salary and terms of employment

Employment and pay are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and the principles of local pay formation.

This is a permanent position of 35 hours per week. Although public transport is possible, it would be advantageous if you have a driver's license and are prepared to use your own car in connection with the work.

Start date desired on 1 December 2026. A child clearance will be obtained before employment.
