About the job

Would you like to help create diverse child communities?

In the Children and Youth Administration, we work with diverse child communities as a shared professional ambition. We want more children and young people to have the opportunity to thrive, develop, and participate in the communities where they live their daily lives.

This involves a shift from primarily explaining challenges as something in the individual child to also being curious about the interaction between the child, the community, and the pedagogical learning environments the child participates in.

For our new colleague, a central task will be to translate this movement into reality in close collaboration with schools and day care centres. You must be able to work independently in the role, but you are not alone. Around you you have a strong educational-psychological environment and interdisciplinary colleagues with whom you can think and develop solutions together.

About the job

The majority of your work takes place at schools and in day care centres in Valby, Vesterbro and Kgs. Enghave.

A large part of the work consists of programs where you, together with practice, become wiser about children, communities and learning environments and develop effective next steps. The programs are planned based on the concrete situation and can take various forms. Observation in practice is often an important source of understanding, but we are also focused on developing our working methods and trying out new approaches together with practice.

The work also includes pedagogical-psychological assessments, supervision, and conversations with children, youths and parents. Depending on your background and the specific task distribution, you may also have assignments at special schools, in Mind My Mind and Cool Kids, or at Indgangen for better mental health.

You must be able to move between the individual child’s perspective and the development of the community around the child. We are attentive to how children and young people participate, what opportunities and barriers they meet, and how we together with practice can expand their participation opportunities where they already live their daily lives.

We are looking for you who are curious about practice

You should want to enter many different contexts and be curious about what is already at stake before you point to solutions. The schools and day care centres you meet are different places in the movement toward more diverse child communities. You must be able to meet each practice where it is and at the same time contribute to making something new possible.

It requires that you can build trust and have an eye for how you yourself act in collaboration. You can listen and be curious, but also bring your professional knowledge forward clearly, challenge habitual understandings, and take the initiative to take the next step.

The most important is that you

  • are eager to work closely with the children and the professionals around them
  • can work independently in complex tasks while actively using colleagues and leadership
  • can build good collaborative relationships across disciplines
  • encounter other perspectives with curiosity and professional openness
  • take responsibility, follow up, and dare to think creatively together with others

You are for example educated cand.psych., cand.pæd.psych. or cand.pæd. in educational psychology. You can be experienced or newly graduated as a psychologist. If you have an educational-psychological master's degree, we also value relevant practical experience with children, youths or the professionals around them.

The crucial thing is that the work method makes sense to you, and that you want to develop it together with us.

You will become part of a strong professional and collegial community

Interdisciplinary Support supports schools and day care centres in the work with children and young people from 0 to 18 years. Here work psychologists, educational-psychological advisors, speech and hearing consultants, support and competence educators, health visitors and consultants work among others.

You will have both close interdisciplinary collaboration around schools and day care centres and access to a larger educational-psychological community. Here you will encounter great warmth and helpfulness, and there is room to ask questions, share professional doubt and reach out for sparring.

We offer a structured mentorship program in your first three months, ongoing professional sparring, supervision and joint professional development. If you are a trained psychologist, we also offer the opportunity to participate in the practice training for psychologists when the conditions are met.

Employment terms

We are seeking several staff for permanent positions.

The positions are generally 37 hours per week, but we are open to agreeing on a different number of hours if we find the right candidate.

Your workplace is Hanne Varmings Plads 6 in Valby, while the work primarily takes place at schools and day care centres in the area.

Salary and employment are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and within the framework of local pay formation. The Children and Youth Administration will obtain a certificate of good conduct and a police certificate as part of the employment process.

Start date is 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
