Psychologists for Children's House Zealand – Næstved Department

Based on the Child Act there continue to be an increasing number of cases in Børnehus Sjælland, just as the implementation of trauma-focused treatment methods requires extra resources.

We are therefore seeking psychologists for permanent positions starting 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter, for our department in Næstved.

Who are we

Børnehus Sjælland is organizationally anchored in the Center for Children and Youth in Næstved Municipality and has departments in Næstved and Roskilde.

It is the task of Børnehus Sjælland to ensure a coordinated and gentle multidisciplinary high-quality approach in cases where there is knowledge or suspicion of violence or sexual abuse of children aged 0-18.

The purpose of the effort in the Danish children's houses is to assess children and young people for possible consequences of abuse, as part of the municipal child welfare §20 investigation. The goal of the effort is that the child / the young person receives the right support and thus has a better chance to recover. We always work together in pairs, social worker and psychologist, and in daily life you will be surrounded by passionate and engaged colleagues from both professions.

A growing organization

As something new in Børnehus Sjælland, there will be the possibility to conduct both shorter and longer treatment courses for children and young people who have been through our evaluation.

The Næstved department is located in the center of Næstved, and within walking distance of Næstved Station. We are in new, beautiful and child-friendly physical premises. We have close collaboration with our other department in Roskilde and Fønix Sjælland.

As a psychologist in Børnehus Sjælland you will have the opportunity to

• Close multidisciplinary collaboration in all cases with social workers and psychologists
• To be part of a monofach group composed of about 30 psychologists
• Through diagnostic interviews, identify and assess the child’s current mental state and needs with special focus on post-traumatic reactions and traumatization
• Prepare final reports to the municipal authorities advisory bodies
• Provide counseling, guidance and professional sparring to the other sectors involved in the assessment of possible abuse of the child, be it municipality, police and/or health services
• Carry out shorter crisis intervention programs with children and young people
• Opportunity to take care of treatment programs
• Ongoing participation in cross-sector meetings
• Contribute to the children's house function as a knowledge unit on abuse
• Plan your own work tasks

• You are a trained psychologist
• You preferably have knowledge of and practical experience from the area of vulnerable children and families
• You are willing to work with crisis management and counseling
• You can accommodate children and families who are going through very difficult times and can communicate with many kinds of people
• You have experience with evaluating children / young people, including testing experience
• You enjoy being part of a team with an informal tone, which is both serious, with high professional commitment, but also allows humor
• You can work independently and have a good overview in a varied daily life

In the Næstved department we are staffed for: 17 psychologists, 9 social workers, 1 administrative employee, 1 receptionist, 1 department head and 1 director of the children’s house.

Salary and employment terms are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between KL and the Danish Psychological Association.

Working hours per week are 37 hours by default.
