At the Special Care Home Tornhøjhaven we are seeking a psychologist for about 20 hours per week for a new role with a focus on the employees' psychological working environment. Our employees solve every day a task that is both meaningful and complex. Therefore we also want to take responsibility for ensuring they have the best possible conditions to stand strong and healthy in it.

We are looking for you who want to help create a presence, accessible, and practice-oriented opportunity for sparring, supervision, and debriefing when the need arises.

A workplace with a specialized target group

At Tornhøjhaven, the majority of residents live with dementia and/or psychiatric issues.

We receive citizens from the entire region, including people with such complex needs and issues that they may have difficulty fitting into more ordinary offers. This makes Tornhøjhaven a workplace with a special and meaningful task, but also a workplace where employees can be met with situations that place high demands on both their professional skills and them as people.

The work is therefore characterized by high emotional demands. We take that seriously.

When you put yourself in relation to people with complex needs every day, there must also be a place to pause. A place where you can receive professional sparring. A place where a team can together examine a situation that has become difficult. And a place where after a demanding incident you can get help to process what you have experienced.

Therefore, with this position we want to bring psychological expertise very close to the daily life of our employees.

Your most important task

Your focus will be the employees' psychological working environment and well-being.

You will not act as a treating psychologist for our residents. Instead, you will be an easily accessible psychological knowledge resource for employees, teams, and management when the emotional demands of the work call for reflection, support, or processing.

We anticipate that your tasks among other things will be

• supervision of staff and teams
• opportunity for individual or small group sparring in connection with work-related stress
• debriefing after particularly demanding or violent incidents
• help to understand and manage your own reactions at work
• support for teams when a situation or an ongoing process affects collaboration or well-being
• sparring about emotionally demanding relationships and situations
• contribution to preventing mental overload
• education and communication about relevant psychological topics
• sparring with management about the psychological working environment
• contributing to developing a culture where it is natural to talk about the emotional demands of the job

When the need arises

We do not want just a psychologist that employees meet on fixed supervision days. An important intention of having our own psychologist attached to Tornhøjhaven is the proximity and accessibility.

Sometimes the need for sparring can be planned. Other times it arises because an employee or a team has just faced a situation that has made an impression. Here we want the psychologist to be a well-known and natural part of the house, so the distance from need to support is as short as possible.

It’s about the working environment

The aim of the position is clear: We want to support a healthy and sustainable psychological working environment for our employees.

We know that our target group and core task can place high emotional demands. Therefore we also believe that, as a workplace, we have a responsibility to create a framework where employees are not only expected to be able to handle these demands but also have the opportunity for support, reflection, and processing.

We also expect that employees who feel supported and have the opportunity to reflect on their own reactions will be stronger in encounters with residents.

The psychologist is thus for the employees. We also hope that the residents will notice the positive difference.

Who are you?

We imagine that you

• are educated cand.psych
• are interested in occupational and organizational psychology and/or clinical psychology
• have experience with or interest in supervision and debriefing
• prefer to have experience from psychiatry, dementia care, social sector, or other workplaces with high emotional demands
• can create a safe and trusting space for reflection
• can be close to practice without taking over the responsibilities of employees or managers
• can work with both individual employees, groups, and teams
• can stay calm when others are affected
• are good at translating psychological knowledge into something meaningful in a busy everyday life
• enjoy a high degree of independence while also wanting to be part of a multidisciplinary environment

A role you will have the opportunity to shape

The position is new, and we see this as an advantage. We have a clear intention with the role, but not necessarily all the answers in advance.

Therefore you will have the opportunity, together with us, to develop how the psychology function best supports the employees and the psychological working environment at Tornhøjhaven.

We want a psychologist who not only comes in when something has gone wrong but who over time becomes a natural part of our preventive work with well-being and the psychological working environment.

Salary and employment terms

According to the current collective agreement between KL and the negotiating organization.
