Reception Manager at Hotel Marselis – will you make your mark on our reception?

Then perhaps you are the one we are looking for as our new Reception Manager at Hotel Marselis.

We are seeking a Reception Manager who knows the hotel reception from the inside out. You know what it’s like when the phone rings, guests are at the desk, a reservation does not look as expected, and the house is simultaneously on its way to becoming full.

But you can also lift your gaze from daily operations.

For with us, the role of Reception Manager is not only about check-in and check-out. You will be responsible for a key part of the hotel’s operations and guest journey – and have the opportunity to put your mark on a reception and a team that we want to develop even further.

Your reception – and your team

You will lead a team of about 12 colleagues and be responsible for the daily operations and development of the reception.

We do not expect you to come in with a ready-made answer book. Instead, we expect you to be curious, see opportunities and be ready to take responsibility.

You should be able to look at a workflow and ask: Can we do this better?

You should want to develop your employees, create structure and ensure that everyone knows what is expected of them – while the reception remains a place with personality, good humor and room for people.

You will be responsible for, among other things

• The daily management and development of the reception team
• Being visible and present in the operations
• Training, onboarding and ongoing development of the staff
• Structure, procedures and good workflows in the reception
• Staffing and shift scheduling
• That reservations, payments and invoicing are handled correctly
• Follow-up on guest experiences and feedback
• Upselling and commercial focus in the reception
• Collaboration with housekeeping, conferences, F&B and the rest of the house
• Keeping an eye on what happens in Aarhus, and how it affects demand for the hotel
• Ongoing work with occupancy, pricing and revenue management
• OTAs, distribution channels and the quality of our bookings
• Using data and key figures to make good decisions

You won’t be alone with all of this. But you should be the type who takes ownership of your area and follows things through to the end.

Who are we looking for?

It is important to us that you have a solid hotel background.

You are either trained in hotel/reception and have several years of experience in the reception area, or you have built up comparable competencies through several years of practical experience in hotel reception.

Additionally we imagine that you

• Have experience with – or are ready for the next step within – people management
• Have good system understanding and experience with a PMS
• Have an understanding of revenue management and the hotel’s key metrics
• Have commercial sense and understand the relationship between price, occupancy and revenue
• Have financial understanding and are comfortable with payments, invoicing and follow-up
• Are structured and can maintain an overview, even when the hotel is very busy
• Can communicate clearly and properly – with both guests and colleagues
• Dare to make decisions and take responsibility
• Have a desire to develop people and build a strong team
• Speak and write Danish and English

Experience with MEWS is of course a plus, but the most important thing is that you are strong with systems and eager to learn.
