About the job

In Rudersdal Municipality we believe that we only succeed together. Therefore we are seeking a Department Head for the authority area across two departments that are in the process of being merged (Visitation and Advisory as well as Center for Assistive Devices). The Department Head will also contribute to being able to unite employees and professional groups around the core task: to ensure citizens and relatives professional, coherent and value-creating pathways.

As with the rest of the country’s municipalities, we are in the midst of a historic transformation of the health and elderly care sector. The new Elderly Care Act, the health reform, and rising expectations for coherent citizen pathways demand new requirements for authority work. It requires strong professional leadership that can translate legislation, strategies, and political goals into practice, while at the same time supporting the employees in a daily life characterized by high complexity.

Therefore we are seeking an experienced, professionally strong, and relationally competent Department Head for the authority department.

About the job The two departments Visitation and Advisory and Center for Assistive Devices are facing an important development process. As part of the continued strengthening of the authority area, Visitation and Advisory and the Center for Assistive Devices shall be merged into one common authority department. The aim is to create even better coherence for citizens, strengthen cross-disciplinary collaboration, and develop a unified authority function with high professional quality and efficient task execution.

As Department Head you will be a central actor in this change process, whose final outcome is in the process of being clarified. You must be able to actively contribute to the development of the new organization, support employees through the change, and help create a shared professional culture and direction. Depending on the outcome and the forthcoming organization, the position may in time also entail management responsibility for employees from the current Center for Assistive Devices.

Therefore we are looking for a leader who thrives in development processes, can create security and engagement during periods of change, and who can translate strategic ambitions into a well-functioning everyday life for both employees and citizens. You must be able to see the opportunities in uniting different professional disciplines and work cultures and participate in building a strong common department where collaboration, quality, and the citizen perspective are central.

Your key tasks will be to

  • ensure high professional quality and legal compliance in visitation, case processing, and decisions,
  • support the development of uniform and efficient workflows,
  • provide direction, well-being, and professional development for the department’s employees,
  • contribute to the development of a common authority department,
  • strengthen collaboration with home care, district nursing, rehabilitation, hospitals, etc.,
  • actively contribute to the ongoing development of the authority area in line with changes in legislation and the health system,
  • translate political decisions and strategic initiatives into meaningful practice.

You will join a management team with the head of the authority, where we will work from a shared ambition to succeed together across professional areas and organizational boundaries.

About you We are seeking a Department Head who can create followership through clear leadership, professional insight, and strong relationships.

Therefore we place emphasis on you

  • are educated physiotherapist, occupational therapist, or nurse,
  • have a diploma in leadership development (diplomuddannelse i ledelse),
  • have deep knowledge of visitation work and exercise of authority in health and elderly care,
  • have experience in leading employees and professional communities,
  • have in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Elderly Care Act, the Service Act, and the Health Act,
  • have experience in developing and implementing new workflows and initiatives,
  • are relationship-oriented and able to create followership through dialogue, involvement, and clear direction,
  • understand working in a politically governed organization,
  • support employees’ professional development and contribute to attractive professional communities,
  • work inclusively and believe that the best solutions are created together with others.

About the department Visitation and Advisory and Center for Assistive Devices are collectively a central part of the municipality’s authority area within health and elderly care, and are responsible for visitation and advice under, among others, the Elderly Care Act, the Service Act, and the Health Act.

The departments grant, among other things, holistic care, home care, training, elderly and nursing homes, assistive devices, home modifications, handicapped transport and -cars, nursing leave, self-selected helper, etc. The departments also have the coordinating responsibility of helping some citizens home after a hospital admission.

The departments consist of engaged and competent employees with various health or administrative backgrounds, who every day work to create the best solutions for the citizens. We emphasize high professionalism, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a strong focus on citizens’ resources and opportunities.

About Rudersdal Municipality In Rudersdal Municipality we believe that we only succeed in unity. Therefore our goal is that all municipal employees and leaders in all tasks – and in unity – work to create sustainable solutions that provide value for citizens, businesses, and the society we are a part of.
