Head of Service Delivery and Control – Vallensbæk Municipality

The Position

On 9 September 2026 Vallensbæk Municipality adopted a new development strategy focusing on quality of life at all stages of life. We expect that each citizen takes responsibility for their own life and contributes to the community with the resources the citizen currently has. In return, we offer a holistic and hands-on approach, and we go the extra mile for those who need it.

In this tension field we find Service and Control, a newly established unit with 9 engaged and skilled employees who have been separated from the municipality's employment-oriented efforts to strengthen the management focus on the unit's tasks.

Service and Control handles among other things granting and paying social benefits, retrieval of refunds, administration of tenant deposit loans, as well as a number of administrative tasks regarding bill payment, reconciliation and preparation of statistics. The unit also houses the municipality's control function with two employees who investigate cases where there is suspicion that citizens receive public benefits that they are not entitled to under the law.

Your primary task as leader will be to ensure direction and well-being for the employees and create the best conditions for them to solve their tasks. This will include close professional sparring, establishment and maintenance of good work processes, handling of any complaints and specifically acting as project manager in connection with implementation of new reforms and digitalisation projects.

About us

Control and Service is placed in the Centre for Finance and Employment, where you will report to the centre manager together with 5 other managers who, in addition to the manager of the employment-oriented efforts, cover finance, procurement and the specialised social area.

The unit is physically located at the town hall together with the employment-oriented efforts and the specialised social area, and an important part of the position is to maintain and develop the good collaboration with these units around the individual citizen.

About you

First and foremost we are looking for a leader who has professional knowledge within the benefits area and possibly also experience with municipal control functions. The area is complex and requires insight into applicable legislation and the relevant professional systems including KY and KSD.

We expect you to be present in your leadership and value the relationship in daily sparring with the individual employees. You should be interested in small changes in workflows and system usage that can free up resources or improve quality.

Finally, we need a leader who believes in the development strategy's goal of a holistic approach to the individual citizen. You should support your colleagues in the other units and understand that they may have a different view of the same citizen but also some other competencies that can contribute to a better process and final outcome for the citizen.

Other information

The position is normed to 37 hours, and employment is according to the relevant collective agreement.

We conduct two rounds of interviews with a personality test between the two interviews. The first interview round will be held 19-20 November.
