Consultant in obstetrics and gynecology Who are you, and what can you contribute? With us you will have a varied and exciting workday with work in outpatient clinic, operative activity, obstetrics and on-call. We are advertising a consultant position, but we would also welcome LIS 2-3 with completed obstetrics to apply.

We now have a permanent 100% position as consultant. LIS 3 who is soon finishing specialist training will be offered a temporary position, with the possibility of a permanent position when obstetrics training has been fulfilled. The position is suitable for you who thrive in a broad clinical environment, have good collaborative skills and wish to contribute to the further development of the women’s health services at a modern local hospital.

For candidates with a particular interest in professional development and medical quality, it may be relevant to combine the position with a role as Medical Chief Consultant for obstetrics and gynecology. This will be presented and discussed further in connection with the interview. About the section The Section for Women’s Health is part of the Surgical Department at Kongsberg Hospital.

The section is responsible for holistic services within obstetrics and gynecology, and handles follow-up of pregnant women, those in labor, new mothers and gynecologic patients.

We offer a wide range of diagnostics, treatment and follow-up within women’s health, and have high activity in both outpatient work, maternity care and surgical treatment. The section has a midwifery-led ultrasound clinic in close collaboration with gynecologists, and is characterized by strong multidisciplinary cooperation between midwives, pediatric nurses, doctors and other professional groups.

With around 420 deliveries per year and a broad gynecological activity, the position is particularly attractive for doctors who want to develop broad gynecological competence.Kongsberg Hospital is located a little more than an hour from Oslo and is one of 8 clinics in Vestre Viken Health Trust and one of the four somatic hospitals in the trust. Kongsberg Hospital is a local hospital for Flesberg, Rollag, Nore and Uvdal, Kongsberg and Øvre Eiker municipalities.

Kongsberg Hospital has been a pioneer hospital within day surgery and was the first hospital in the country with this service. The day-surgery activity at Kongsberg Hospital is therefore large. Responsibilities As a consultant you will be responsible for

• Clinical work in the department, as well as related administrative tasks
• Outpatient assessment, treatment and follow-up of gynecological patients
• Operative activity in gynecologic surgery in day surgery and main operation, as well as emergency care
• Participation in the section’s on-call schedule
• Contribute clinically through teaching, supervision, mentoring and teamwork
• Collaborate with midwives, pediatric nurses, anesthesia, the operating room and other professional groups to ensure holistic patient pathways
• Possibility for combined clinical and medical professional role for suitable candidates
• Other tasks as needed

Qualifications

• Norwegian authorization as a physician
• Approved specialist in obstetrics and gynecology
• Good communication skills in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language. Both spoken and written skills are required

• Experience from gynecologic surgery and obstetrics is valued
