about the role

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer in Network Infrastructure at Salling Group you will be part of a diverse and strong professional team, where you will contribute to the development, architecture and documentation of the global network infrastructure across Denmark, Germany and Poland. The role combines deep technical execution with the ability to translate complex business needs and security requirements into scalable, automated and well-documented network solutions.

Your primary responsibilities and tasks will be

Global network design and architecture: Design, further develop and optimize global network solutions within LAN, WAN, data center (Cisco Nexus and NDFC), Wi-Fi and cloud (including Azure Cloud). Work with maturation projects, security, compliance, Zero Trust and protection against future AI threats.

Automation and operations optimization: Drive automation of manual processes and operational tasks – including automation of firewall rules and port management – to free time from operations and increase efficiency.

Technical documentation and standards: Prepare thorough and precise technical documentation, design descriptions and common standards with a structured and academic approach to problem solving.

Cross-disciplinary collaboration and business dialogue: Function as a strong communicator and sparring partner for the tech organization, stores and the organization in general. Identify needs, advise on network requirements and spar with the team closely.

International locations and site rollouts: Handle specific network challenges, upgrades, changes and tests across locations in, among others, Denmark, Germany and Poland. This involves remote configuration and close dialogue about changes at both small and large sites.

Vendor collaboration and technology evaluation: Collaborate with Danish and international suppliers and technology partners (e.g. Cisco, Meraki and Check Point) on technology choices, solutions and implementations.

Technological innovation and AI: Be curious and identify opportunities to integrate AI with regard to process optimization and follow new technological trends to improve network operations and processes.

To succeed in the role, it is essential that you are structured, proactive and strongly communicative, so you can naturally engage in constructive dialogues with stakeholders at all levels. You take ownership, thrive on challenging the status quo and drive tasks forward with a methodical approach that ensures well-worked solutions of high quality. You work with high professional integrity, have a good understanding of Change Management and are at the same time an outgoing and engaged team player who actively spar with the team when needed.

It is expected that you bring

• A relevant IT or engineering education – practical and documented experience is valued highest.
• Several years of experience with enterprise networking, including design, implementation and documentation of network solutions.
• Experience with WAN, Meraki SD-WAN, cloud connectivity or data center networks.
• Experience with or familiarity with platforms and technologies such as Cisco, Meraki, Check Point, Azure and cloud networking is a great advantage.
• Knowledge of Network Automation, Zero Trust and Network Access Control is also an advantage.
• A natural interest and curiosity for automation, AI and modern infrastructure solutions.
• Fluent language skills in both Danish and English at business level.
