About the job

Create direction and strong operations at a brand-new Danish factory

Nammo Denmark A/S is in the process of establishing a completely new production factory in Elling—from the ground up. The factory will produce both small- and large-caliber ammunition and will become an important part of Nammo's European activities.

We are seeking a Site Manager who will take a central role in ensuring that our new site develops into a safe, stable and efficient operational organization.

As Site Manager you will be the daily top operational leader on the site. You will be responsible for creating coherence across the operational functions and ensuring that the organization works efficiently towards common goals.

You report to the Managing Director and work closely with the other leadership, the operational function leaders, Nammo Group and relevant support functions.

A central leadership role in the build-up of Nammo Denmark A/S

You join at a time when the organization is still being built, and where structure, clarity and strong collaboration interfaces must be created as production and headcount grow.

You will, among other things, be responsible for

  • ensuring a safe and stable daily operation
  • creating clear operational priorities
  • coordinating across Production, Quality, Supply Chain and Technical
  • following up on Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost
  • ensuring effective handling of operational disruptions (when we come into operation) and cross-functional issues
  • driving performance and continuous improvement
  • ensuring a smooth transition from project and ramp-up to stable operation
  • developing the operational organization in line with the company’s growth
  • ensuring timely escalation of significant risks, deviations and decisions to the Managing Director

You lead operations and create coherence across

Site Manager will have the overall responsibility for the daily operational coordination at the site.

That means you work closely with and coordinate the functions that are directly linked to production and operations – for example, Production, Quality, Supply Chain and Technical.

HR, Finance, IT and other central support functions still report to their respective functional leaders. They also participate in cross-site collaboration when their function supports the operational running.

Your task is therefore not to be the functional leader for all functions, but to ensure that the whole organization works together around the operational task.

You must be able to bring together different disciplines, create clear priorities and ensure that problems are solved at the right level.

Your mandate

You will have a clear operational mandate within the framework set by the Managing Director. You must be able to make the necessary daily decisions about, among other things, prioritization of resources, capacity, production and cross-cutting activities. At the same time you must assess when a decision lies outside your mandate and should be escalated to the Managing Director or relevant Group function. This requires both decisiveness and good judgement.

Your profile

We envisage that you have solid experience in leading operations and operational organizations, preferably from industry, manufacturing or another complex and regulated environment. You have a strong operational understanding and are used to creating structure, prioritizing resources and following up on performance.

You are both strategically minded and hands-on. You can see where the organization should go, but are also close enough to operations to notice when something isn’t working.

Professional qualifications

  • Relevant higher education in fields such as Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business, Technical Management or similar
  • Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience from industry, manufacturing or another complex operations organization
  • Solid leadership experience from operational functions
  • Experience with Operations/Production Management and KPI governance
  • Experience with organizational development and change management
  • Experience with Lean/Continuous Improvement is a plus
  • Experience with ramp-up, commissioning or establishment of new production facilities is a plus
  • Experience from regulated or safety-critical industry is a plus
  • Experience from an international organization is a plus

Personal competencies

  • Clear and decisive
  • Visible and approachable as a leader
  • Structured and good at creating an overview
  • Results- and solution-oriented
  • Calm and proactive under pressure
  • Good at prioritizing and creating momentum
  • Strong communicator and collaborator
  • Good at delegating and creating responsibility in others
  • High integrity and good judgement
  • Thrives in building something where not all parameters are yet defined

Languages

  • Danish and English, spoken and written

Practical matters

  • The position is full-time
  • Travelling should be expected in connection with collaboration with Nammo Group and other partners
