About the job

Are you eager, courageous and committed to leading a strong social-educational team of child and youth advisors, and do you have a good sense of balancing the operational and development potential in social work? Are you motivated by working with people and can you translate ambitions in the field into practice – then you are the one we are looking for for #alletidersarbejdsplads in Roskilde Municipality.

In Roskilde Municipality we work from a common vision: “All children and young people should thrive and become whole people. All children and young people have abilities and competences that they should have the opportunity to express and develop – both individually and in collaboration with others.” Through Strong Communities for all children and young people we work across the 0-18 area to ensure that all children and young people have the opportunity to participate in communities in early childhood education, school and leisure activities.

Your task As section head you will have the daily management responsibility for around 25 child and youth advisors in the North area. You will solve the task together with two social-educational coordinators who support the professional coordination, carry out case reviews and provide sparring to the advisors.

You will have responsibility for both professional leadership and personnel leadership. Your tasks will include, among other things, to:

  • ensure high quality, systematic work and timeliness in case processing
  • be a present and clear leader for employees and coordinators
  • create good conditions for well-being, learning and professional reflection
  • ensure coherence between tasks, resources, professional priorities and finances
  • continue and maintain work with psychological safety and a good working environment, which is crucial for our success in working with our vulnerable families.
  • contribute to joint leadership and interdisciplinary collaboration with, among others, day care, school, clubs and PPR (Psykologisk og Pædagogisk Rådgivning).
  • support a holistic approach to both task solving and the leadership role

You will be the leadership anchor of the section. You must be resilient in a complex everyday life, create stability in daily operations and at the same time allow room for professional development, new solutions and employees’ professional judgment.

What we are professionally focused on The child’s well-being, development and perspective are central to our work. We have a strengths-based view and find solutions together with the child or the young person, the family and the network.

Our work with quality is based on four common directions: systematic case handling, strong professional competencies, involving children, young people and families, and using data for learning and leadership.

In the coming period we have a particular quality focus on children and young people with school absenteeism, good transitions from adolescence to adulthood, quality and stability in placements with a new placement team, and timeliness. We will also strengthen the joint practice in complex cases, early and preventive interventions and involvement of family, network, civil society and volunteers.

As section head you must be able to translate the professional direction into concrete leadership close to the employees’ practice. You must support the translation and the strategic work with the political ambitions.

Who are we? Children and Young People are part of the Directorate area for School and Children. We carry out authorities for vulnerable pregnant women as well as children, young people up to 23 years old and their families.

The area consists of two geographical authority sections, and a disability section. We also have foster care consultants, a placement team, lawyers and our own service delivery offers. Family House is our open offer to families with children aged 0-17 years and also houses the municipality’s easily accessible treatment services.

You will become part of the management team in Children and Young People and will have three close leadership colleagues. We view the leadership task as a shared responsibility and help each other to create coherence across the organization.

What characterizes us We are ambitious on behalf of the children and families and work systematically with quality, inclusion and cross-disciplinary collaboration. We use data, management supervision and case reviews for learning and development and focus on ensuring that professional expertise and finances go hand in hand.

We offer you….

  • an exciting leadership role with the opportunity to make your mark
  • talented and dedicated staff and two social-educational coordinators
  • a strong professional environment with room for reflection and development
  • a leadership group where we tackle the task together
  • responsibility for, among other things, the youth area, preventive initiatives, daytime duty and crime prevention work
  • a fixed introductory program, a mentoring scheme and good opportunities for sparring
  • support from, among others, legal, HR, finance, administration, IT and communications.

We are looking for someone who

  • has a relevant social-educational degree and solid experience from the child and youth area
  • has experience with leadership or has a talent for leadership that can be developed
  • has a relevant leadership education or wishes to pursue one
  • can balance stable operations, people management, economy and professional development
  • wants to participate in the common leadership tasks in Children and Young People, including joining in the on-call rotation with four colleagues
  • sets a clear direction while being open, listening and appreciative
  • is visible and accessible and can support employees in both everyday situations and difficult cases
  • has insight into and experience with financial management in the area and can support governance where professionalism and economy go hand in hand
  • can create good relationships and collaboration across professional areas
  • contributes in a friendly, active and energetic way to the joint leadership group and the development of the overall Children and Young People
  • handles citizen inquiries with integrity and respect, both towards citizens and your employees/colleagues.
