We are seeking social and health care assistants for permanent positions in rehabilitation at a specialized level, physically located in Herning at Bytoften. The positions are available to be filled from December 1, 2026.

We are in the midst of an exciting development. In accordance with the Health Reform, the specialized area is transferred from the municipality to the region as of January 1, 2027. This means that you will become part of an organization in transition – with the opportunity to make your professional mark, contribute to the development of specialized neurorehabilitation, and be part of an important journey for citizens, employees and partners.

Who are we?

We work with citizens after hospital discharge, where the length of stay depends on each citizen’s development potential – typically a course of around three months. In rehabilitation, we work toward the individual citizen becoming active and participating in their future life based on their own resources, desires and needs, in close collaboration with relatives.

What sets us apart from many other workplaces is our longer patient pathways. We become part of the citizens’ lives over weeks and months, which gives us the opportunity to work deeply and holistically – not only with the injury, but with the whole person and the life the citizen will return to.

You will be part of a dynamic, committed and interdisciplinary team consisting of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, nurses, social and health care assistants, neuropsychologist, speech and language therapist and chief physician. We work purposefully and specialized with rehabilitation plans for the individual citizen.

The position and your tasks

These are permanent full-time positions. You will be part of a duty roster, as the unit is staffed around the clock. The work includes shifts at different times of the day as well as weekend work. The exact scope will be agreed closer and planned in the duty roster.

You can expect the following tasks

• Specialized neurorehabilitative nursing care and support for a rehabilitative approach in the daily work with the citizens.
• Collaboration with citizens, relatives, doctors, hospitals and municipal partners.
• Contribution to interdisciplinary rehabilitation plans and targeted interventions.
• Documentation, status descriptions and professional communication.

About you

We are looking for you who

• Are professionally engaged, curious and want to work with people with acquired brain injury and complex issues in a rehabilitative everyday life.
• Are interested in, and preferably have experience with, neurorehabilitation and complex pathways.
• See neuro-pedagogical strategies as a natural part of the task.
• Have good collaboration skills, thrive in team work, seek sparring and value interdisciplinary cooperation.
• Are proactive and capable of independently planning and prioritizing your own tasks.
• Communicate clearly both orally and in writing and thrive in collaboration with citizens and relatives.
• Move effortlessly between mono-disciplinary and interdisciplinary tasks, even when everyday life requires quick shifts. At the same time, you contribute actively to a good working environment together with your interdisciplinary colleagues.

It is an advantage if you have a driving license, but not a requirement, as rehabilitation for some citizens may also take place in the citizen’s own home.

Salary and employment terms

Salary and employment terms are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement in the field. With reference to the Act on the Child Certificate in connection with employment of staff, etc., a child certificate will be obtained in connection with any employment. Employment is with Region Midtjylland with service initially at Hospitalsenhed Midt, Hammel Neurocenter Regional Hospital.

About 24-hour Rehabilitation - Herning under Hammel Neurocenter at Regional Hospital

From January 1, 2027 there will be 10 24-hour rehabilitation beds and up to 6 citizens living at home who alternately come to 24-hour rehabilitation in Herning to receive day rehabilitation and obtain rehabilitation at home. We work with citizens after hospital discharge, where the length of stay depends on the individual citizen’s development potential – typically a course of around three months.
