Ballerup Kommune seeks social- and health care helper apprentices

• Social- and health care helper apprentices for starting the main course in January 2027.
• Apprentices over 25 years old who begin Grundforløb 2 (GF2) in February 2027 (main course start in August 2027).

Your main tasks

• As a social- and health care helper apprentice you will perform citizen-centered tasks within care, nursing and practical assistance with a rehabilitative perspective. You are good and enjoy collaborating, as citizens, relatives and other professionals are important people in your work
• During the education you will visit both a nursing home and home care, so it is important that you can cycle and can bring your own bicycle during the training period in home care.

• That you are good at communicating
• That you take shared responsibility for your education and participate actively
• That you can reflect on your own role in collaborative relationships
• That you are skilled, responsible and stable, both in school and during training
• That you can cycle safely in traffic, as it is a requirement when you are in home care
• That you have a valid residence and work permit for the entire study period.

Admission requirements

• Passed or ongoing - Grundforløb 2 (GF2) aimed at a social- and health care education (continuation to the main course depends on a completed and passed GF2)
• Applicants who have completed a general upper secondary education (in the Nordic countries) can obtain a reduction of GF2. This is assessed by SOSU H’s guidance.

Employment including GF2

If you are 25 years or older and apply for admission to SOSU H, it is possible to be employed from and including GF2 with pay. This must be clearly noted in your application.

The education program

The training as a social- and health care helper is a vocational education program that alternates between school and apprenticeship. The program lasts 14 months. If you have previous experience as an unskilled worker, you must submit documentation and then SOSU H School will assess whether you can receive credit for parts of the program.

Who are we

You will during your education undergo two apprenticeship periods at one of our nursing homes and in home care. You will be assigned to teams where you will be part of the citizen-centered health service in cooperation with competent colleagues and apprenticeship supervisors.

Employment process and salary

Working hours are 37 hours per week and you will be paid during the entire education. We follow FOA’s collective agreement and conditions with regard to apprentice wages or adult apprentice wages.

We hire social- and health care apprentices on an ongoing basis and call candidates for interviews as we receive applications.

The position is 37 hours and is a fixed-term position.

The salary as of 1 April 2026

• Social- and health care apprentice: 14,250.75 DKK
• Adult apprentice: 26,294.75 DKK

You can apply for adult apprentice wages if you are at least 25 years old before the start of the education and in the last four years have had at least one year of relevant employment in the social- and health care sector with an average of 24 hours per week. Payslips must therefore be submitted with your application.

If you do not meet the above criteria, you can ask the job center in your home municipality whether you meet the conditions for subsidy for adult apprentice wages. If approved, we can offer adult apprentice wages (attach a confirmation email from your job center).

• Copy of the front AND back of your residence and work permit, if you are not a Danish citizen

• Payslips as documentation for adult apprentice wages, but only if you can meet the above requirements for prior employment in the social- and health care sector.
