Ballerup Municipality seeks social and health care assistant apprentice students

• SSA-apprentices starting the main program in January 2027
• SSA-apprentices over 25 years old who begin the Basic Program 2 (GF2) in February 2027

(main program start in August 2027)

Your most important tasks

• As a social and health care assistant apprentice you will work with caregiving, nursing and rehabilitative tasks for the individual citizen who needs support in daily life. You will receive a good, diverse education with opportunities for personal and professional development
• We are looking for apprentices who have social understanding, enthusiasm and motivation, as well as interest and personal capacity for caregiving. It is also important that you can work independently, are proactive, curious and reflective with good communication skills.

• That you are reliable and motivated to learn
• That you are good at communicating
• That you take joint responsibility for your education and participate actively
• That you can reflect on your own role in collaborative relationships
• That you are skilled, responsible and stable - both in school and on the training
• That you can cycle safely, as it is a requirement in home care
• That you are prepared for weekend/evening shifts
• That you have a valid residence and work permit for the entire training period.

Admission requirements

• Passed or ongoing - Basic Program 2 (GF2) aimed at a social and health education (continuation to the main program is conditional on timely completion and

passing GF2)

• Applicants who have completed a secondary education (in the Nordic countries) may obtain a reduction of GF2. This is assessed by SOSU H’s guidance.

Credit applies regardless of when the secondary education was completed.

• Qualified social and health care helper, which provides 5.5 months of credit at the start of the training.

Employment including GF2.

If you are 25 years old or older and apply for admission to SOSU H, it is possible to be employed from and including GF2 with pay. This must be clearly noted in your application.

Training program

The training as a social and health care assistant is a vocational education that alternates between school and apprenticeship. The program lasts 2 years, 9 months and 3 weeks. If you are already a trained social and health care helper, you will receive 5.5 months credit.

Who we are

You will during your training undergo apprenticeship placements in home care and at our care homes. You will also become acquainted with training sites in psychiatry and in hospitals. You will be attached to teams where you will become part of the citizen-centered health service, a psychiatric department/house and hospital in collaboration with competent colleagues and training supervisors .

Recruitment process and salary

The working hours are 37 hours per week and you receive salary during the entire training. We follow FOA’s collective agreement and conditions regarding apprentice salary/adult apprentice salary.

Your salary as of April 1, 2026

• SSA apprentice: 15,740.29 DKK (1st year) – 17,932.75 DKK (2nd and 3rd year)
• Adult apprentice: 26,294.75 DKK.

The position is 37 hours and is a temporary position.

You can apply for adult apprentice salary if you are at least 25 years old before the start of training and have had at least 1 year of relevant employment in the sosu field with an average of 24 hours per week within the last 4 years. Payslips must therefore be sent with your application.

If you do not meet the above criteria, you can ask the job center in your municipality whether you meet the conditions for a subsidy for adult apprentice salary. If approved, we can offer adult apprentice salary (attach confirmation email from your job center).
