Social Pedagogue

24-hour institution for persons with disabilities Sungiusarfik Ikinngut in Ilulissat is seeking a social pedagogue

The position is 40 hours per week with rotating hours, including day and evening shifts as well as weekend work. The position also involves trips with residents outside the local area in special and defined periods.

Sungiusarfik Ikinngut is a nationwide 24-hour institution for youths and adults with permanent physical, mental, intellectual and/or sensory impairments.

The primary task is to provide care and rehabilitation with the aim that each resident becomes as independent as possible.

The institution consists of three departments as well as a protected workshop Sannavik with an associated small bakery.

The educator's responsibilities and tasks

• Work in accordance with Sungiusarfik Ikinngut's pedagogical goals and the used special pedagogical methods
• Create safety and care responsibly and supervise the residents.
• Contribute to good collaboration both within one’s own department and across the other departments
• Work in a structured, independent manner and be able to evaluate practice.
• Work from the pedagogical goals in practice and help create good conditions for colleagues' implementation hereof.
• Manage the written pedagogical documentation in a qualified manner

Start date

The position is desired to be filled by 1 November 2026 or by agreement.

Salary and terms of employment

Salary and terms of employment, including the right to onboarding and severance travel as well as household goods relocation, are in accordance with the collective agreement in force at the time of joining between the Greenland Self-Government and the negotiating organization.

Housing

Unfurnished staff housing can be allocated according to the rules in effect at any time. Housing cannot be allocated if the applicant already has a service housing or lives in municipal or Self-Government owned housing. Payment of rent and deposit follows the applicable rules for the allocated housing. The housing is tied to the employment and must be vacated at the end of the employment.

Rent and housing standard may vary depending on year built, ownership, etc. Since there may be a waiting list for permanent staff housing, there may be temporary accommodation, including in smaller shared residences or hotel-like apartments, which will be taxable.
