About the job

Do you want to use your pedagogical expertise close to people whose daily life does not always follow a straight path? Can you build a relationship, stay calm in the unpredictable, and uphold the citizen's right to choose their own life?

Then we would like to meet you. We are looking for a trained social educator for the Bo department at Special Center Skovvang with start date January 1, 2027 .

The citizen's voice sets the direction

At Skovvang we meet people with experiences of homelessness, mental health challenges, substance use issues and complex social conditions. We base our actions on the citizen's wishes, resources and current situation – even when the citizen's choice is different from what we would choose.

As a social educator you must be able to build trust, be clear about the boundaries and explore what lies behind behaviour that challenges. You must be able to use your professional skills without taking over the citizen's decisions.

Your task in the Bo department

You work together with the citizen to translate goals into a daily life that can function. The support can involve creating structure, keeping appointments, managing finances, engaging with treatment and developing practical skills. Shopping, cleaning, laundry, personal hygiene and other daily tasks are part of the pedagogical work.

You must also be able to assess when the citizen needs support to do something themselves, and when there is a period where more compensating help and care is needed. You document the efforts, follow up on the goals and adjust the support together with the citizen and your colleagues.

We work recovery-oriented and rehabilitative and apply Trauma-informed Approach (TBT) as well as a cognitive approach. For us the methods are something that must be visible in the meeting with the citizen: in our curiosity, in how we prevent conflicts, and in the actions we agree on together.

Continuity when the citizen moves on

Housing First is an important part of our work. When a citizen moves into their own housing, we collaborate closely with the colleagues in the department who handle housing support tasks. This way we can create continuity between the stay at Skovvang and the support the citizen needs in their new daily life.

You also collaborate with our internal social worker team, the citizen's home municipality and relevant partners such as doctors, psychiatry, substance treatment, dentists and the job center. Here we expect you to contribute with your pedagogical observations, coordinate arrangements and help ensure that the citizen's perspective follows across.

We are looking for someone who

  • is a trained social educator and wants to work with people in complex life situations
  • creates trusting relationships and can be clear about the framework without losing contact with the citizen
  • respects the citizen's autonomy and involves the citizen in decisions about their own support
  • translates professional goals and methods into concrete actions in daily life
  • stays calm and maintains overview when situations change, and works preventively with conflicts
  • writes precise and relevant documentation that can be used to follow up on the efforts
  • takes responsibility for collaboration with colleagues and external parties and is open to professional sparring and feedback

What you can expect from us

You will become part of a department with colleagues bringing different experiences and professional perspectives to the work. We help each other when tasks are difficult, and we speak openly about what works and what we need to do differently. We place emphasis on a good tone, direct communication, humor and a working environment where there is room for both professional disagreement and joint reflection.

You will have a workday close to the citizens, opportunities for sparring and supervision, and leadership that is close to everyday life and professional development.

About the position

Skovvang belongs to the Center for Social Intervention in Holstebro Municipality. In the social work section at the Bo department, we carry out interventions under the Social Services Act sections 110 and 107.

The position is 37 hours per week with rotating day and evening shifts and work every other weekend. There may be field tasks, and you must therefore have a driver's license.

Salary and employment terms are determined according to the applicable collective agreement and the principles of local salary formation.
