Social workers/case handlers for the Children and Family Department

The Welfare Area consists of 25 employees distributed across the Children and Family Department, the Elderly and Disability Department, and the staff functions - legal, finance and secretariat.

The Children and Family Department is staffed for 9 employees, including Deputy Head and Head of Department.

The nearest supervisor will be the Deputy Head of the Children and Family Department in Maniitsoq.

The social worker's primary task is to work closely with the citizen, and to be thorough in case processing with the aim of the citizen's development and to maintain close collaboration with the respective areas of the case.

Collect information – day care centers, School, Health services, etc.

Aftercare

•

Prepare applications to the Committee for Welfare

•

Provide advice and guidance in accordance with current legislation.

•

Assist in acute cases

•

Conduct conversations with children and youth, as well as parents and the network

•

Conduct networking and treatment meetings

•

Contribute to professional sparring in the area, etc.

•

Ad hoc tasks – for a period or for a fixed-term assignment.

•

Be part of the social on-call duty

Work and responsibility area

We expect you to

•

Have knowledge of the Social Services Act.

•

Have experience with municipal case handling, etc.

•

Have experience with network meetings and treatment meetings

•

Can maintain a good overview, also in stressful situations

Professional qualifications

•Educated social worker or have another relevant social background

•Bilingual.

•Good spoken and written competences

•You have knowledge of the tasks and take the cases seriously

Salary and terms of employment

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable agreements and collective agreements in force at any given time.

There may be provided a staff housing, for which payment is made according to the applicable rules.

Start date: 1 November 2026, as soon as possible or by arrangement

Criminal record

This position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain a child certificate and a criminal record. In accordance with the law, employment may only begin when the municipality has received a criminal record. We must therefore note that the start date can only be agreed once the municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.
