We are seeking a deputy head who wants to be part of our management team but who primarily is passionate about the pedagogical work with the children. With us, leadership is not something that happens away from practice. It is something we exercise close to the children, the staff and the daily life we share responsibility for.

About Elverdammen

Elverdammen is a childcare house with pleasant, inviting surroundings and good opportunities to create inspiring learning environments – both indoors and outdoors. Here, the physical framework should support the children's play, curiosity, development and participation in communities. We work with mixed age groups, both in the baby group and in the preschool, where we have 2 groups for the youngest from 8 months to about 2 years, 2 groups for the 2-3½ year olds and 2 groups for the 3½-5-year-olds.

We aim to be a childcare house where children meet attentive and engaged adults, and where the staff take joint responsibility for the pedagogical quality throughout the day.

About the position – educator with leadership responsibility

The position as deputy head is 37 hours per week and available from 1 November 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

You will become part of Elverdammen's leadership team and have close cooperation with the head of the childcare house. Together you set the direction for the house’s pedagogical and organizational development and ensure that decisions are translated into meaningful practice.

Your primary task is to be an educator in a fixed group of children, with the 3½-5-year-olds.

This means you have a central role in the group’s daily pedagogical work, where you, together with your colleagues, create stability, calm, recognizability and a clear pedagogical direction.

You are an active part of the children's daily life and take shared responsibility for creating learning environments where all children have the opportunity to participate, develop and see themselves as a meaningful part of the community.

Your fixed attachment to the group is an important foundation for your leadership task. It is through your participation in practice that you gain insight into everyday life, can support the pedagogical quality and contribute to creating coherence between our shared professional ambitions and what the children experience.

At the same time, you have a leadership perspective for the entire Elverdammen and help support the staff and the joint development across groups.

You get both leadership time and time together with children and staff. It is important for us that you are visible and accessible in everyday life, and that you have a sense of what works, what challenges, and where there is a need for sparring or action.

Your leadership tasks will be carried out in close collaboration with the head of the childcare house and with respect for the fact that your fixed children’s group remains your primary working community.

Your tasks will include, among other things

• Being an active and present educator in your fixed child group and contributing to stability, calm and pedagogical direction.
• Supporting the professional development and quality in the pedagogical learning environments.
• Providing professional sparring and following up on shared agreements and initiatives.
• Inspiring, motivating and leading in the joint task solution.
• Supporting a good working environment and a culture characterized by psychological safety.
• Contributing to the organization, prioritization and coordination of everyday life.
• Handling administrative and practical leadership tasks, such as work schedules, vacation planning, minutes and reporting.
• Collaborating with parents and relevant cross-professional partners.
• Managing daily leadership when the head of the childcare house is absent.

You will solve the leadership tasks that are agreed and delegated by the head of the childcare house, and you report to the head of the childcare house.

We are looking for you who

• Have a strong pedagogical professional expertise and a desire to make a difference for both children, staff and the entire childcare house.
• Have a pedagogical education and preferably experience with leadership, coordination or professional development.
• Thrive in being an active part of the pedagogical practice and see the work with children as the foundation for your leadership task.
• Are keen to develop yourself both professionally and in leadership.
• Can take independent responsibility and at the same time engage loyally and constructively in a close leadership collaboration.
• Can set direction, follow up and bring tasks to completion.
• Are clear and affirmative in your communication – both verbally and in writing.
• Can inspire and motivate staff and create followership.
• Have a view of both the individual and the whole childcare house.
• Can remain calm and prioritize when everyday life changes.
• Are curious about different perspectives and dare to be explorative in your own and others’ practice.
• Can balance presence, care and clear leadership.
• Have good organizational skills and can work in a structured way with administrative tasks.

You do not need to know everything from the start. The most important thing is that you have a strong professional foundation, a desire to lead and courage to learn.

Together we will lay out a plan for your introduction to the tasks, Elverdammen and Gladsaxe Municipality’s professional and leadership frameworks.

You must be able to initiate tasks, hold onto processes and complete them. Your position should be adaptable to the task: sometimes you need to lead, others you work alongside – and occasionally you step back and give space.

Salary and terms of employment according to the collective agreement and the Ny Løn principles.

You must be proficient in Danish in writing and speech.
