About the job
Newly established position with a focus on emergency medicine and collaboration with Rigshospitalet
We are expanding our specialist physician group at Midt- and Vestsjællands Hospital in connection with the development of a new emergency neurology service. You will have significant professional influence over our upcoming accident and emergency department and will be part of a new, close collaboration with Rigshospitalet.
Why choose us?
- Create the future of emergency care: You will play a central role in building and launching our upcoming emergency neurology service (excluding thrombolysis).
- New collaboration with Rigshospitalet: The collaboration opens doors to cross-disciplinary interaction, knowledge exchange and research. For those interested, there are also opportunities for attractive part-time appointments (e.g., one day a week at RH).
- New professional areas from January 1, 2027: As a result of the health and medical care reform, we take over specialized rehabilitation from the municipalities, which provides exciting opportunities for professional development.
- Room for your subspecialization: Whether your interest lies in MS, movement disorders, headaches, dementia, epilepsy or rehabilitation, we will adapt the framework so you can deepen your area of expertise.
- A strong research environment: We focus on multimorbidity and have our own professor of neurology, whose research is primarily focused on multiple sclerosis.
Your profile
You are a specialist physician in neurology – and are either a recent graduate looking to develop or an experienced colleague seeking new challenges.
We believe that you
- are passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration and want to contribute to the quality of the new emergency department
- consider close professional collaboration between different hospitals valuable
- see great value in clinical supervision and mentoring of our junior doctors
- are determined, flexible and actively contribute to our good working environment and pioneering spirit.
The daily work and tasks
Our department cares for patients at the primary function level in Slagelse (hospital department for phase II rehabilitation, mainly stroke, and specialist clinics) and in Næstved, where we run the Center for Neurorehabilitation (CNN) with a regional function.
Your duties will include
- work at our outpatient clinic, our specialty clinics or the interdisciplinary memory clinic (in collaboration with geriatricians, psychiatrists and neuropsychologists)
- supervision of junior doctors and participation in interdisciplinary collaboration between different clinics.
- on-call responsibility: the specialist physicians currently handle the on-call duty on-site until 9:00 p.m., after which they have from-home on-call (primary on-call is available around the clock).
About the department
Neurology is part of a consolidated department (Medicine 3 and the Department of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy), where we have a close and well-functioning cooperation with geriatrics. We place great importance on professional exchange within a group of physicians characterized by good collegial cohesion and a desire to develop the profession.
Practical information and application
- The seven physician roles: Your application should concretely relate to the seven medical competence areas and include as detailed documentation as possible.
- Interests: If you have particular requests regarding subspecialization or are interested in a shared position with Rigshospitalet, please indicate this in your application.

If you wish to move to Denmark in connection with the employment, we offer free, professional assistance with relocation and settling in near the hospital or potentially in Copenhagen. You will receive help with everything from finding housing to registration and any accompanying family members.
An important part of the work as a specialist physician is communication between doctor and patient. We therefore provide a language teacher for private lessons so that you can communicate with your patients as quickly as possible at a level where you understand each other.
That means we expect you to be prepared to spend time learning Danish, both spoken and written.
