N4D is a specialized, closed geriatric psychiatric ward with a unique profile. We work in a field where psychiatry and somatics merge, and where we meet patients with both dementia and/or severe behavioral disturbances. Our nursing care goals are to create calm, security and dignity for both the patient and the relatives in a challenging life situation.

Your role and responsibilities

As a social- and health care assistant you will be an indispensable part of our multidisciplinary team. You will work in a specialized environment where your professional expertise is crucial for the ward’s operation and patient safety.

Your main tasks will include

• Holistic nursing care : You take care of both the psychiatric and somatic nursing. You also function as a professional mediator in our many multidisciplinary and cross-sector collaborations.
• Observation and clinical eye : You act as the department’s “eyes and ears” and are quick to identify and respond to both somatic and psychiatric signs.
• Prevention and de-escalation : Through your presence and your professional insight you work purposefully to create security and to prevent escalated situations and the use of coercion.
• Relational collaboration : You participate in a close and professional collaboration.

Your profile

As our new colleague you are an expert in relational care. You have a qualification as a social- and health care assistant and have a particular interest in the cross-disciplinary work with older citizens with cognitive challenges.

You possess a high degree of emotional intelligence and the ability to create security in unpredictable situations. Your approach is characterized by patience, presence and a deep understanding of the patient’s perspective, which enables you to work purposefully with de-escalation and prevention of unrest.

You value close collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues and contribute actively to maintaining a safe and professional working environment.

About the ward

Geriatric psychiatry is divided into two units: N4A (open ward) and N4D (closed, intensive ward). Both departments have region-wide functions and are part of a larger system that includes a mobile team and an outpatient clinic. We are also a training site for, (Falck) rescue students, social- and health care assistants and nursing students.

Practical information

• Position : 1 social- and health care assistant.
• Employment fraction : Full-time (37 hours/week), but we are open to dialogue about another fraction.
• Shift pattern : Primarily DV + AV (we work every 3rd weekend or equivalent).
• Workplace : The position is a cross-ward appointment between the two geriatric psychiatric wards (N4A and N4D), but with a “base” at N4D.
• Salary : According to the current collective agreement for social- and health care personnel, FOA.
