About the job

Do you want to tell stories from the Home Guard, attract new volunteers and help give them a good start? With us you will have the opportunity to work with communication, recruitment, onboarding and events. You will both develop content, plan activities and meet the volunteers who make the Home Guard function.

About us

The Army Home Guard District Central and Western Jutland is an operational district and a community consisting of about 1,400 volunteers, 3,000 in reserve and a permanent staff of military and civilian employees who insist on lifting together. We cover the area from Hanstholm to Silkeborg and work daily at the intersection between operational tasks, training and cooperation with the police and other emergency services.

Our principle is simple: One staff – one task. Whether you are a permanent civilian or military employee, a volunteer or a reservist, we solve the tasks together. We place emphasis on high professionalism, good cooperation and an informal tone where flexibility is a natural part of everyday life.

You will become part of a strong professional community, where we work purposefully to spread awareness of the Home Guard, increase the number of volunteers and make visible the value of being a volunteer. You will join a network with colleagues from the region’s five other districts, who work in the same areas as you – recruitment, onboarding and communication. Here you get sparring, support and guidance from both the network and the regional recruitment and communications unit.

Evening and weekend work occurs, but in return you get a workplace with freedom and flexibility in task execution.

The position

Our current communications and recruitment employee has taken a new internal position, and therefore we are looking for a new colleague.

You will play an important role in the work of attracting new volunteers and ensuring they get a good start in the Home Guard. You will both develop our communication and support recruitment, onboarding and retention of members in the district’s local branches.

Your tasks will include

  • develop and run the district’s internal and external communications, especially on Facebook, Instagram and HJV.DK
  • plan and carry out recruitment events and activities in collaboration with our local branches
  • develop and quality assure the process for admission and onboarding of new members
  • support the local branches in the work to retain volunteers
  • handle local press inquiries together with your colleague
  • advise and train volunteers in, for example, social media, presentation techniques and events
  • be responsible for procurement and administration of recruitment and promotional materials.

A day close to the volunteers

One day you work on developing onboarding programs and following up with new members. The next day you are out among the volunteers to find and tell the good story – perhaps with a camera in hand or in the middle of an interview. A third day you plan an event or help a local branch with their communications.

You will have the opportunity to shape the tasks with your experience and interests.

Your fixed place of work will be Ingeniørkasernen, but you will also go out to the district’s 21 local branches. Here you help the volunteers welcome new members, retain existing members and tell about their work.

We offer

  • An position with a variety of tasks within communications, recruitment and events
  • Flexibility in planning your working hours and the possibility of remote work
  • Colleagues you can brainstorm with, and opportunities for professional development
  • A job where you come close to the volunteers and their efforts in the Home Guard
  • Favourable employment terms and employer-paid pension.

About you

You have a relevant education in, for example, communications, HR, organizational development or events. You have experience with one or more of the areas and can translate your ideas into concrete activities.

We also place emphasis on the fact that you

  • communicate clearly and have a sense for a good story – both in writing and speaking
  • are good at building relationships and collaborating with people from different backgrounds
  • can plan, coordinate and implement activities from idea to action
  • understand what motivates volunteers, and how we can retain their engagement
  • work independently and follow your tasks through to the end
  • are eager to work closely with our volunteers.

It is an advantage if you have experience with volunteers or familiarity with the Home Guard and the Defence, but it is not a requirement.

Since part of the collaboration takes place with volunteers, you must be prepared that some tasks take place in the evenings and on weekends. In return you have great flexibility in planning your working hours.

Employment terms

You are employed in accordance with the current collective agreement.

Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is the possibility of negotiating supplements. There is an employer-funded pension scheme attached to the position.

Your fixed workplace will be Ingeniørkasernen, Søndre Boulevard 15, 7800 Skive.

As an employee within the Ministry of Defence area you are subject to some special terms. You must, among other things, be security-cleared and maintain the security clearance throughout the employment.

The Home Guard is a military emergency preparedness organization consisting of volunteers and permanent staff. We are Denmark’s voluntary force. We strengthen the Defence, the Police and society when we solve tasks that call on our abilities and efforts. We assist with everything from locating missing persons, environmental tasks in Danish waters, assistance during floods to support for the Defence. Our foundation is more than 15,000 active volunteers and a military organization that allows us to move quickly and effectively.

The Home Guard consists of three branches – Army Home Guard, Air Home Guard, and Naval Home Guard – which solve a wide range of tasks on land, at sea and in the air. Our core task is carried out through building and training military units and individuals who can guard objects as well as carry out other military tasks. All members of the Home Guard have undergone military basic training on a level with the Army’s basic training.
