Adjunct Lecturer in Play Design at Design School Kolding

Designskolen Kolding and our Lab for Play Design is a strategic research and development lab that explores and develops play as a driver for design. We work across Playful Generations - design-centered play and pedagogy. Playful Attractions - playful interpretation in museums, libraries and experience centers, and Playful Care - playful solutions in health and care. We are now seeking an adjunct lecturer to strengthen this program further and with competencies in:

• Industrial Design, Communication Design, Textile Design, Clothing Design or Accessory Design
• Play, interpretation and pedagogy, e.g. with projects and/or experience from educational environments, museums, libraries and experience centers or the health and care sector. Method-rich design education and design-facilitated facilitation
• Child- and youth-centered design processes and methods

As a practice-oriented adjunct lecturer you participate in and lead knowledge and development projects as well as teaching. This is done in collaboration with knowledge staff and educational managers. With a focus on the interaction between digital and analogue techniques you should have a professional and pedagogical view of design, where value creation for people and society is in the center.

We therefore seek a trained and experienced designer with

• A design education at master’s level or equivalent
• Experience from the educational field, experiences and culture sector or health and care sector and a good network in relation to it
• Strong pedagogical abilities for teaching

In the research and development department we work in three laboratories within Design School Kolding's strategic focus areas: Sustainable Design, Social Design and Play Design. Here the discipline’s methods are used to develop and disseminate knowledge, positive changes and/or new competences and business opportunities together with public authorities and private companies. In this way we create the knowledge base for the school’s teaching, including continuing education.

You will belong to the Lab for Play Design, and are expected to be an active participant in the laboratory’s activities and projects across Playful Generations, Playful Attractions and Playful Care, just as there may be activities across the three laboratories. In addition to project work in research and development projects you are expected to teach at bachelor and master levels as well as in continuing education and executive education. We therefore place emphasis on relevant teaching experience, and the language of instruction is Danish and English.

Employment terms and application

This is a fixed-term position as adjunct lecturer with a contract period of 3 years and the possibility of extension. The position must be filled no later than February 1, 2027.
