A different medical position in Aarhus Municipality

Rusmiddelcenter Aarhus seeks two doctors who would like to work with treatment of citizens with substance use issues. There are two permanent positions at 30 hours per week, to be filled by 1 January 2027.

You work only daytime hours 08:00-16:00 and have weekend duty approximately every 5 weeks.

The position is primarily based at the center's address at Sumatravej 3, but there will also be tasks at the center's address at Jægergårdsgade 66.

About the job

As a physician at Rusmiddelcenter Aarhus (RCA) you work with the medical treatment of people with substance use problems, based on a bio-psycho-social understanding of illness, and you work closely with the center's other doctors, as well as nurses and social professionals, to provide a holistic approach to citizens in substance use treatment.

As a doctor you are responsible for opioid substitution treatment and general health-related counseling. As part of the center's offering we have a heroin clinic, where the doctors together with nurses perform the highly specialized treatment with injection of diacetylmorphine. In addition, the doctors have tasks related to alcohol treatment.

Medical tasks are carried out through a well-developed external collaboration and good coordination with other parts of the health service, primarily general practitioners, psychiatry, hospital departments, home care, pharmacies and welfare homes. There are thus excellent opportunities to strengthen one's medical competencies in cross-sector collaboration.

Salary and terms of employment

There are two permanent positions at 30 hours per week.

Your primary workplace is the center's address at Sumatravej 3, 8000 Aarhus C, but there will regularly also be tasks in the department at Jægergårdsgade 66.

You will be employed under an individual agreement in accordance with the Protocol regarding doctors performing clinical work in municipalities between the Association of Younger Doctors, the Association of Specialist Doctors, and KL. The agreement follows the Agreement for subordinate doctors employed in the regions regarding salary and pension. Other terms of employment follow the Agreement for municipal doctors.

The employment is conditional on a satisfactory criminal record.

Rusmiddelcenter Aarhus is Aarhus Municipality's free counseling and treatment offering for citizens over 18 years old who have substance or alcohol problems. The doctors are also involved in medical treatment of children and adolescents under 18 with opioid dependence in cooperation with Aarhus Municipality's Youth Center.

The treatment approach is evidence-based and consists of cognitive therapy, social, health, and medical treatment. Treatment takes place in close collaboration with relatives and other municipal and regional efforts. RCA’s core task is to contribute to changing substance- and alcohol-related challenges.
