About the job

Do you have strong psychiatric competencies and are you passionate about creating cohesive patient pathways across somatics and psychiatry? Then you may be our new liaison nurse.

About the position

As a liaison nurse you will be a central key person in the work to strengthen the connection between somatic and psychiatric departments. The role involves consultation, education and development with a focus on supporting cross-sector collaboration and ensuring high quality in patient pathways.

A liaison nurse works to build bridges between disciplines and contributes to enhancing the nursing professional effort around patients with psychiatric problems in somatic contexts.

The position is organizationally anchored in the General Psychiatric Department, North and primarily involves presence at the Regional Hospital in Hjørring. Your daily base will be in the Emergency Department at North Jutland Regional Hospital in Hjørring, but you will work across the entire hospital. Here you bring your psychiatric expertise close to the somatic everyday life and contribute with assessment, sparring and support when patients have psychiatric problems.

To keep skills and the latest psychiatric knowledge up to date, this is a cross-departmental role, where the working hours are split between the Regional Hospital in Hjørring and the Intensive Care Unit N6 in Brønderslev. The split will be a minimum of 75% at the Regional Hospital and about 25% working time at Intensive Care Unit N6. We are flexible regarding wishes for shifts and possibly weekend work.

With the distribution and connection to Intensive Care Unit N6, we want you to gain familiarity and knowledge from, among other things, ward rounds, reflection, and not least meet the colleagues you often conference with by phone.

Reporting line will be to the Chief Nurse at Intensive Care Unit N6, but there will be close cooperation with the nearest managers at the Regional Hospital, Hjørring.

We aim to hire two nurses for liaison psychiatry, so that you have a colleague nearby. There will be days when both are present at the Regional Hospital, but there will also be days when you work alone, for example when the other colleague takes vacation or has shifts in Intensive Care Unit N6.

Your primary tasks

Assess and perform clinical evaluations of patients with psychiatric problems admitted to the Regional Hospital in Hjørring. This includes decisions on need for contact, supervision and/or possible admission to Psychiatry, including the General Psychiatry Department North or the Geriatric Psychiatry Department, in close contact and sparring with the on-call psychiatric backup.

Maintain ongoing dialogue with the psychiatric departments, General Psychiatry Department North and Geriatric Psychiatry Department, for professional sparring and participation in conferences.

Written and telephone advisory to collaborators in both psychiatry and somatics

Participation in daily morning conferences at the Regional Hospital, Hjørring.

Documentation and development of own practice.

Teaching in de-escalation nursing and violence risk assessment – including a central role in the violence prevention week.

Dissemination of knowledge about defusing to somatic wards.

Teaching porters in maintenance and use of psychiatric tools, including in relation to coercive situations.

Ongoing updating of informational material and brochures.

You will become an important bridge between psychiatry and somatics and at the same time you will have the opportunity to help shape and develop the function. Not everything is predefined, and therefore you will have real influence on how we together create good and cohesive patient pathways.

We seek 2 new colleagues who

Are part of a cross-sectoral role distributed 75% of working time at the Regional Hospital, Hjørring and 25% working time in Intensive Care Unit N6, Brønderslev.

Preferably with a specialized training in psychiatric nursing and several years of relevant experience from psychiatric departments.

Have a solid professional stance in psychiatry and dare to stand by one’s professional assessments.

Have strong competencies in psychopathology and pharmacology knowledge.

Work solution-oriented and see opportunities rather than limitations.

Are creative and can find individual solutions in complex patient pathways.

Thrive in a consultative and teaching role.

We offer

An exciting and independent role with great influence on the development of cross-sector collaboration. You are 1 of 2 liaison nurses.

Introduction and thorough onboarding with overlap with the current liaison nurse, expected to be three months

A professionally engaged environment with a focus on quality and development
