About the job

Are you keen to work in the neuro-intensive specialty in a ward with a high priority on professional development and well-being? Do you want to be part of a strong community with engaged and helpful colleagues and a truly unique interdisciplinary collaboration?

About the department

At Intensiv Nord 1 we have 10 intensive bed spaces with a primary focus on the neurospecialty. We have a variable patient flow and receive, among others, patients from the Emergency and Trauma Reception. The patient group mainly consists of patients with diseases and injuries related to the central nervous system, including brain hemorrhages, head trauma and spinal cord injuries.

We are part of Aarhus University Hospital's Intensive Care Department with a total of 39 treatment beds, of which 18 are located in NORD.

The nursing with us

We meet the patient and relatives in the acute and critical phase and follow the patient’s course further into the early rehabilitation. Our focus is highly specialized nursing, and as a nurse with us you will have the opportunity to work with

  • intensive nursing care for complex neurosurgical patients
  • advanced monitoring and treatment
  • basic nursing care
  • existential and psychosocial aspects of nursing

Collegial community and professional development

We are a dedicated and broadly composed staff group, where the majority are specialized in intensive nursing. We place high priority on professional sparring, high quality and good collaboration.

With us you get

  • daily nursing conferences
  • focus on development and quality projects
  • a close and egalitarian collaboration with physicians, secretaries, service assistants as well as occupational and physical therapists
  • a working environment where we help each other – and where you never stand alone with the tasks, regardless of experience.

Introduction and training

We offer a structured and individually tailored 1-year introductory program with

  • teaching and theory days
  • supervision
  • fixed mentors in the first 8 weeks
  • focused follow-up days with introductory and training nurses
  • an introduction program structured via the Emento app
  • opportunity for specialist training in intensive nursing.

We expect that you

  • can work independently and in a team
  • maintain calm and an overview in a changing daily life
  • can handle many impressions, tasks and people
  • thrive in a high-tech environment with focus on patient and relatives
  • contribute positively to professional development, quality and well-being
  • are inclusive, engaged and professionally well-founded
  • are eager to challenge and invest in our ward and specialty.

Shift plan and flexibility

We place high value on mutual flexibility and offer great influence on your shift plan. You can, among other things, influence

  • weekend work and holidays
  • the placement of about 8–10 evening or night shifts per 4 weeks
  • the possibility of 12-hour shifts on both weekdays and weekends.

Salary and employment terms according to the applicable collective agreement. Employment is conditional on a satisfactory child protection clearance as well as a satisfactory authorization.
